All:

As the icy grip of winter slowly begins to tighten its grip on us, let us travel back in time to the Glory Days of the American Passenger Train, when some of the nation's most elite varnish carried passengers from the icy grips of Northern winters down to the sunny, palm-tree shaded south.

Rail travel to the South is indeed a fascinating topic unto itself.......

Let's start our nostalgic journey South by paying tribute to the grand and opulent JACKSONVILLE UNION TERMINAL.

In its heyday, 142 trains entered and left this massive facility.

This outstanding collection of photos serves to takes us back to the days when this cavernous station hustled and bustled at all hours of the day and night.

It's a vastly different story today.....

Recalling the bygone glory days of Atlanta, GA.

Today, virtually nothing remains of those bustling years of commerce and travel.

The spectacular aerial view dates to 1949......
