Hi all. My favourite(just for the styling) is the T1. Did you know the South Australian Railways built 12 4-8-4's and styled them on the T1. These were a very successful class of loco and 2 have been preserved. One is being returned to service(slowly!).

I'd have to go with the K-4s. But i like all the PRR Steam Loco's. They were all designed well, and did their own part in making the PRR The Standard Railroad of The World! Heres some pics of some of my HO K-4 Models. Enjoy. They are all kitbashed. Bowser, Bachmann Spectrum, Brass, Pennline. Cary, Cal-Scale. You name it its prolly on the model!

Yes, some of us do know about SAR's 520 class.  Built for the only other 5' 3" gauge railroad that I know of outside of Ireland, too (in the English-speaking world, that is).  Here's 523...

I like the K-5.  The bell under the headlight was a nice touch.  Come to think of it, that locomotive COULD have been a P-6 Hudson if it had a larger firebox!!!

Well my personial favorits will probable be the strange ones like the t-1 4-4-4-4,
and the 4-4-6-4 engines because I like the strange ones and the one of a kind like the diesil that was featured on the cover of the May 2005 issue of the Trains Mag.
Would love to kit bash it if I can find the right loco's to do it with.

My favorite Pennsy steam locomotive were the K-4, M1a, and the L1 mikado.

My favorite was the J1a, but the K4 was next in line for me on the PRR.
We would visit the coaling tower in Effingham Illinois and be invited up fairly often up into the cab while they were servicing the locomotives.

The J1 were magnificent locomotives in size and design.  To watch one start a train of one hundred and thirty cars or so was a treat.

We also paced them a few times east of town for a few miles just to watch.

For sheer beauty, I think you have to go with the early atlantics, E-2, E-3 classes.  The K-4s are neat engines too.  But how about some love for the class G-5 ten-wheelers?

Mine would have to be the T-1s and K-4s. The T-1 is just a cool looking streamliner, and the K-4 is one of the PRR's workhorses, they could do everything, except do your schoolwork .

This is one of my favorite Pennsylvania Locomotives.   I found it inside the Steamtown backshop last week.  It will be shipped back to Altoona soon, but I believe they will finish it and we will see it run again.

My favorite is the Q-2. Just love that wheel config. It was also the most powerful and had the most pulling force for a non-articulate. Not to mention the heaviest. The K-4's are a close second.

The
LI G5's look like a small K4 to me from most angles.  They have the large tender and have the overall look except from the side of an early K4.

Is the 39 being restored for possible running or just paint for display??

I had read that both the LI G5's might have been under restoration, but that was ten years ago.

Hi All,

The LIRR and PRR G-5s was quite large, in fact I have read that it was the largest ten wheeler ever built.

Gotta cast my vote for the M1a with the LD tender, then the K4s not far behind. Both in the prewar non-modernized version  . The H8/9/10 consol ain't too shabby either. And who can deny the brute beauty of the I1s/a??
