P'burg, Then and Now - By Charlie_O on 06/20/07 at 21:57:21 - 'Pburg_Then_n_Now.jpg' 135 KB
What a difference 30 years makes!

Found myself on a quick stopover in the Easton-P'burg area yesterday so thought I'd catch some NS action.  When I downloaded the images from my camera, I noticed that one was taken from nearly the identical spot from which I'd photo'd the CNJ 30 years ago.

So, as I'm fond of doing, I created a then-and-now pair of images.  The old signal gantry is gone, along with the yard trackage.  The modern day Lehigh Line, I was surprised to find, is single tracked thru P'burg.  PU Tower is visible in both shots, tho partially obscured by passenger coaches in the first view.

Two of the P-RSL's Budd Cars are still running on home rails for Cape May Seashore Lines.  In conjunction with the centennial celebration of Reading Company's Tuckahoe Tower on November 4, 2006, M-407 and M-410 re-enacted the combining of trains from the Ocean City and Cape May Branches.

Also, here's that link again for the map of this area. You can zoom in and out and find your way back to Wildwood Junction or to where the station once stood.

I'm now in North Wildwood and my factory installed GPS system, which doesn't see the Lehigh & Hudson River tracks even though they were around just 20 something years ago under Conrail, recognizes the tracks and I find the trail again

Along this road, some of the track has been ripped up. I can remember several years ago, I believe, the tracks were visable under the Garden State Parkway. When were the torn up? Who owns this land? I see it continued past the parkway.
