hello waterlevel,
I'm hoping you can help me out, I'm building some NYC lighters and other barges. In the pictures I see that even these little workhorses had names on them. Question without having to join another group is were a place one could find a listing of the names NYC used over the years?
thank you Eric

Tom:

Maybe the U.S. Coast Guard might have some idea as to the identification on the lighters and barges.  Getting close up views in photographs with enough resolution detail is hard to find.  That said, look at the posting of photographs on this site of #25, #79 and #91.  If you cannot see enough detail to discover what identification numbers and letters were used than let me know and I will see if I can pull out more detail for you by blowing up those sections of the photograph. I would also ask those who visit this site to share their photographs for the benefit of those who are preserving our maritime heritage.
