I appologize to the Moderator if we already have a thread dedicated to RF.net's FAVORITE Fallen Flags Fourms game. If so, I will remove and re-post accoringly.

So, anyone care to "GTL"?

Nope. Wrong state, right end of the system, though.

Let's see. if I can help this along....This was taken on a branch that was usually referred to as a "division" instead, though I guess technically it was both........It is also part of the trackage consisting of early pre-NYCS railroads.

Oh, and you might want to be careful around here near Halloween, as the Headless Horseman may ride over the hill in search of, well, heads......Though he better watch out for traffic!

Without the clues I would have NO chance on this one. I am going to say Putnam Division, East view NY. This is just over the mountain from Tarrytown which is on the Hudson Division.

Hmm, let's see if I can help.....I guess if Mr. Clinton wanted to slum it with the "common folk", he could take the train to this "really nice" little Ville. Of course today, the trains are below grade, not like this 1951 view.

Readers who want to "Digest" this post and keep "Pace" with the clues, might want to go visit Westchester County and see if Mr. Tibbs is home......

I admittedly don't know for sure......Peekskill maybe? Or is Westchester County below there?

Charlie -

Poughkeepsie is north and west and a county north of Westchester, and the branch in question generally paralels a scenic route that you might have to seesaw back and forth on guessing the correct one.

Ya know what, since my first clue referencing Mr. Clinton would lead one to guess Chappaqua, I will give you the win, though the actual location is Pleasantville, NY.....

The clues were "Readers Digest" (this was the original location of the home office), "Pace" (this is the location of a campus of Pace University) and "Mr. Tibbs", as this is the home of Sidney Poitier, who made that character famous.

I have been to the Readers Digest campus many years ago. Actually I thought it was in Chappaqua NY. BTW - that consist looks more like something from the Hudson line not the Harlem. That is what through me off in the beginning.

I would tend to agree about the consist. As I've said in the past, it wouldn't be the first time the source info was incorrect! That, and as mush as I've tried, the views don't line up....I do not know if the tracks thru town were below grade in 1951 as they are so today, so that coupled with the "mainline" consist, may mean it is indeed, not Pleasantville, but maybe Poughkeepsie instead.

As for Reader's Digest, according to Wikipedia, it started in Pleasantville, then moved to Cappaqua, but kept the Pleasantville mailing address (sentimental reasons?)
