NS #8501-8505 are in various stages. These are rebuilt NS Dash 8-40C units with a new Widenose Cab. This cab is very similar to the Crescent Cab NS has used on some EMD rebuilds, but designed to fit a GE frame. NS #8504, a D8.5-40CW under construction seen in Roanoke, VA on 5/31/15 at 0800Hrs.

Well, it spent the 4th of July in Roanoke. Man, if the walls in the background could talk...

Sadly, NS has elected to to end the Dash 8.5 program. All remaining unrebuilt Dash 8s will be scrapped when they fail.

The program may be on hold, but the unfinished units are on the active roster. I saw #8509 spending a quiet night in Roanoke, VA on 5/7/16 at 2130Hrs.

Cresson steal had quite the line of retired NS C40-8s ready to be cut up.

The C40-8 is quickly becoming dinosaur. Unless you are CN
