Hey Bobby,

Any updates?  I know that you guys had a close call with Isaac but was hoping to hear about any progress that you may have made.  Best of luck with getting her outshopped and polishing the rails.

Hey Don, No updates this week. Last Saturday was spent searching the local scrap yard for a donor door for SWMBO's car. Her window mechanism decided to eat itself. Then I spent the rest of the day swapping the parts around.

I am close to steam-up though. I will post photo's.

I have had a bit of a set back. I brought the tender over to Bob's to mate up the water lines etc and to configure it for coal. I started by looking into the idea of reworking the waterlegs to make room for coal storage.

The first problem I uncovered was the original builder use copper drive rivets after the tender was assembled. Which meant the panels had to be pried off to gain access to the tank area and the hand pump.

The hand pump was totally encased in scale. Someone in their infinite wisdom thought that it would be wise to use steel bolts and not stainless bolts on the pumps end caps. The bolts are so corroded I am not sure the pump is salvageable.

I removed the body from the frame and discovered other issues that needed attention.

Oh the joys of buying someone else .... er ....... craftsmanship.

Looks like a new tender body is the way to go. My schedule has been shot to hell.

Hey Ray, maybe I could borrow your tendola? LOL

Bobby it is your's for however long you need it.  If you really want to have it down there just in case.  Let me know before wednesday, I will bring it with me to Canton, and Bruce can haul it down to you.   Ray III

   Bobby,

I just had another whacky thought!! I know,,, many posters here think I have whacky thoughts anyway!!!! But, I have that extra Tom Bee flat with the extra water tank on it tied to the spray car. It already has a shut off valve plumbed in on the out let. Use that if you want to. Just a little inovative plumbing and it could connect to your engine. Its yours if you need it.

Ray, as it turns out I may not need the tendola after all. Bob seems to think we can make a new tender in fairly short order. I am going with a simple square tender instead of a sloped one.

Bruce, I will keep your flat car/tank car idea in mind. Thanks to you both.

Bobby,

Glad to see the photos of your progress.  More importantly, can't wait to see your pearly whites peek out of a sooty covered face.  Keep up the great work!

Work has been progressing on the tender rebuild. The stainless inner tank is almost finished, the finishing touches to the outer shell and she'll be ready for testing..... I think

   Guys,

A little birdy (Bobby t) told me, just yesterday, that a certain 0-6-0 might be steaming up this next week end. Good for you Bobby. A lot of work has taken place to get to this point. It sure does'nt happen by talkin about it!

Well Saturday I went up to the BCRR around 2.30 to only find Bruce there talking with I gentleman from the Ill. Live Steamers and had expected to work on the Ole Atlantic. Then Bruce got a call from Pete, saying that Bobby was firing up his 0-6-0 for the first time, so Bruce and I headed over to Unka Bob's to watch. Sure enough, Bobby had a "COAL" fire going in his 0-6-0 and by the time we arrived, the guage was off the peg. Way to go Bobby! Pictures and video to follow.

Here is a shot with Pete and Bruce looking on as Bob Dean and Bobby Timson stoke the fire. They were trying the injector. It was trying to pick up but it was giving them trouble as it was sucking air through the water line.
