A short distance back from the road. This area has been ballasted but I just started to tamp and level.

Further back still. this section up to the level is done. The switch in the distance will be where the engine lead from the turntable will connect with the main.

This shot is taken from the same spot as the last but facing back to where I started. the switch in the foreground will connect with a branch line along this side of the property. I call this section "Phase 2"

Really nice looking, Bobby. I'll bet your "client" is tickled.

Thanks for the frog pic.

Hey Bobby, you need to take Momma's Critter over to the track so that at the end of the day you can run over your completed work just like we do at the BCRR.   HEHEHE!!!

I have been making some slow progress. My helper has had some personal issues to deal with so I have been mostly on my own this week. I put down about 200' of rail screwed to ties but not ballasted. I am hoping when Trey gets back he can continue with rail and ties and I can fall back and do the ballast & leveling.

From where I started to where I stopped today, I have a giant "U" if you can picture that. Of course I forgot the camera again.

The concrete guys poured the footings for the transfer table, turntable pad, steaming bay pad and a long sidewalk next to the barn that will become the car barn. We are really starting to get things in order.

I'll try to remember the camera tomorrow............maybe.

As of 5PM today, I have 460' ballasted, tamped and leveled for use and another 35' ready for ballast. Unfortunately I have lost my helper. I guess I wore him out.

Here is a shot from the crossing, in the direction I am building.

further on. The grade starts to go up here to the Oak, then levels out again. Should make the steamers bark along here.

A look back from the other side of the oak. Alas, I will have no shade from here on.

The concrete guys did a good job pouring the pads. Here is the turntable pad. The steaming bays will be mounted on the slab to the left.

It has been a really productive week so far. I have a new helper, Mike that has been really putting some trackage down.

Compare this photo with the one taken on the 17th.

This shot is taken facing the opposite direction from the last one. You can see three phases of track. Ballasted/finished, then rail screwed to ties then rough laid ties and rails. I only have about 50' beyond this before we have to stop until a bridge is built further down the line. Unfortunately we need to leave the narrow way open for the tractor to get in to prep the bridge site.

Really looking GOOD !!! Like I've always said, not many people want to do track work. I guess your former helper is one of them.
