Thanks Jerry,

I have another year to burn thru so will only look for something a little different from 2008.

One from the Bauerton Branch.  This is the bottom leg of the switch back.  In the background is the bridge just north [RR West] of Maples.  Two loads is all #4 can pull out of here as this branch has some horrible grades against loads out.

For you Florida guys, that white stuff isn't beach sand, it is frozen water or what us northern guys refer to as SNOW!

   Tom,

I get cold just looking at those pics. I left the NE a LONG time ago because of that white stuff, heh, heh, heh.

They are neat pictures. Almost Christmas card views.

Hi Tom

Do you drain the water from the boilers or do you have heating where you store the engines?

We drain the boilers but they are kept in a heated roundhouse so the pipes don't crack if all the water doesn't come out.

Well it is 2008 by the picture date and snow has come down.  What is needed to open the ROW after a storm?   Well a plow extra of course.  Two of the neighbors boys got to ride the front end and watch the snow fly.  It is rather cold this day as they are bundled up to keep warm.  The engineer gets to hug the warm boiler for his heat.  Not so for the boys.

The youngest man gets to get out and get the switch so Kyle watches his brother go do the work.

Actually Ryan was cold and waited in the roundhouse by the stove for us.  I wanted a picture so I got the switch.  Not as good a story!

Well the snow is gone.  Still cold so wood needs to be hauled.  A load is piled on Flat #437 for Mill #3 where it gets cut up for the roundhouse stove.

Tom,
What?  No pot-bellied stove in the caboose to warm the crew?
Just kidding, thanks for posting these pictures.  I'd love to get up there to see the RR someday.  Reminds me of some cold days I spent on the Michigan Northern north of Cadillac back in the 1970s.

No train pics during the summer as we were working on building a foundry.  So that brings us to near the end of the year and what comes out of the sky?  More snow!

   Tom,

I sure do enjoy your pics. Particularly the beautiful picture post card type with the snow.

Oh, BTW, we are way down to 46* right now here in SW Florida. Cold for us, for sure!!

One week later and no snow.  We had a train order & time table operating session.  A shot of #7 waiting for orders at Jack's Pit with Ryan standing by.
