Mike's video of the SP 2472 stepping right along up grade on return to Sunol,Ca. station. We rode the next train in an old SP club car. We could not have asked for nicer people to spend the day with than the folks at the Niles Canyon Railroad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDP5xgsYbz0

Friends, Sorry for the time lag in posting pics and vids of this very special trip to California. And the many railroad facilities that Mike and I visited while I was there. Here is a vid of the Golden Gate Railroad Museum's beautiful SP2472 approaching, up grade, on the Niles Canyon Railroad, to the Sunol, Ca. station ahead of the first run of the day. This sight and sound, is a live steamers dream come true! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Ig8QdFMe30

One of my poor pics of this very nice looking and running locomotive. It was a pleasure visiting with all of the great folks at the Golden Gate Railroad Museum and the Niles Canyon Railroad group. Mike and I were treated with the upmost kindness by all the foks involved with this event.

Hey Bruce, Looking at the picture of you standing next to the 4-4-2, is that your next project ? Those pictures are something else. They probably don't do it justic like standing there in person. Great videos too. Take care. Russell

Friends, Here is the 2472 rolling across the Farwell bridge in the Niles Canyon, Ca. This was my last chance to see this really nice running locomotive in action. But, this video demonstrates why some "railfans" have such a bad reputation. This guy not only jumped into this scene but he was on the open car with Mike and I on the first run of the day. He was like a "jumping jack"on both sides of the car as the train went along. He even was doing video over my head. That really does'nt bother me much, since I'm five foot one. I'm sort of used to that. Please enjoy the vid and read the text. It tells a sad story of todays hurray for me and the hell with you attitude. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzT_YOOFgZo

Guys, If you thought my words were just a little harsh in the previous post, take a good hard look at this video of the same scene. Video by Mike K. This ignorant "foamer" gets yelled at by the older man across the track. Telling him that he is standing right in front of another photographer. He turns, LOOKS RIGHT AT Mike, and continues to stand in front of him. Just as if Mike was'nt even there. My comments are not to insult any true railroad enthusiasts, but this guy gives us all a bad name. And he ruined a video of someone's first visit to this great facility. Think of others when railfanning !!!! Believe me friends, I had a few "words of wisdom" for this jack ass as I approached him from up the track. If Mike was'nt pulling me away, I would have turned the air a little bluer!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kt8OIrUe-_s

I. Hate. Foamers. Bruce, it's amazing how often this happens. When I get back down there I'll have to share my Folkston story about the FOUR foamers in my shots! They were so ignorant and annoying. And then they wonder, well, gee, why does the crew ignore them or (as seen in a youtube from New Hope & Ivyland somewhere) toss chunks of coal at them for standing too close on the RoW. Foamers are annoying. Besides that, great videos, I really have enjoyed watching them online, she sure is a beautiful steamer out there... Great shots Bruce! Thanks, A Railroader and Railfan, Dean

Dean, In all the years that I have been attending special runs of full size locomotives, starting back in the late sixtys while I still lived in Paterson, NJ, this was the most blatant disregard displayed toward another railroad enthusiast that I think that I have ever seen. And, these type of people don't get the message. Thats what is really disturbing. This guy felt it was perfectly OK to block the picture of another photograhper. Glad your enjoying these vids. I have many more of the other places that Mike and I visited. I believe those will also be enjoyable.

Last run for the week end of 9/12/09 of SP 2472, Nile Canyon, CA. As Mike drove us into the Niles Canyon, on 9/11/09, he noticed a small park on our left, (our right as we left). This is where we went to get these last video shots. We were leaving the area to return to San Francisco. And I would be on my way back to SW Florida within twenty four hours. And this was the last run of the day, 9/12/09 of the SP 2472. This is some of the best sounds of this great locomotive. The heavy breathing sound befor the engine moves, is NOT the locomotive, its me. We had to run up a hill to get these pics before the last run took off. Yea, at almost sixty seven, I can still run up a hill !!!!! Ha, ha, ha,ha. Hope you all enjoy this short vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fa9V7W_06iE

Great video. And yes, the "breathing" of the steamer outshadows your heavy breathing. Great shots.

Hey Don, Glad you are enjoying these humble vids. I've got way more, but between tying to put "ole 7597" back together, working a full time job, and making an attempt to stay ahead of the younger guys over at Pete's, the video transfer has taken a far back seat. Again, glad you enjoy them. I'm happy to be able to share this great expierience with my friends here. Bruce
