AUCHINCLOSS SANBORN MAP
This shows the track and the shafts after the breaker was torn down. AS I said in the original post the coal from this area was then sent to the Loomis for process via the H&N branch.

Here is a link to some nice shots of the river bridge. As far as I know this was not the original bridge they needed to make the bridge stronger for the growing tonnage on the line + the bigger engines they used to pull the coal. I have read that
one of the bridges in this area was blown up durring a miner strike If you notice the transmission towers on top of the bridge they were used to carry electricity to the Woodward breaker that sat on the Plymouth Twp. side of the river.

Marker with whats left of the bridge over the CNJ in the lower right hand corner. The marker it self sits smack dab in the middle of the CNJ nanticoke branch bed.

Good Evening, XPLORER:  Great pics and info!  Sure does make me homesick!  Just curious, do you have any similar info from the Ashley area?  Thanks!

Small Keystone arch under line to Auchincloss. This, like the tunnel, is stone on one side and concrete on the other

Another small keystone arch on way to Concrete City. The row is on the left and Nanticoke creek is on the right

Girder bridge removed in the late 80's. I hate to say it but I forgot about this one. Not much but a pier on each side over the Nanticoke Creek.

At The Truesdale area from Auchincloss Jct. Lueders creek crossing. From Bliss to the Truesdale breaker. I am standing on the CNJ Nanticoke branch. and the LV Wyoming Div is about 5 mins up the MTN. in the far view of this shot.

Truesdale Breaker with DL&W Coal cars. I wish I could find more on this and the Bliss area. Tabor gives a great account of how they moved from Kingston to Hanover Yards then to Scranton. But not much on the branch line in this area itself.

I just aquired a 1947 map recently which shows a good portion of the Hanover and Newport branch.

I'll post the map of the area in sections and if Rick can oblige, he could possibly label the areas of interest.

The second part of the map, which is too big for display in the thread.

This is DLW from truesdale to 20 tunnel.unknow if this was regular train trackage or mine car. there are 2 of these crossings right next to each other. L.V.  runs under through a solomons gap type area.

I grew up in Nanticoke and I just learned a few things about the DL&W H&N branch.
I remember a lot about the area but have a few things to learn yet. Great job to all who posted info on this topic. Keep the info coming.

Here's a shot of the Loomis found in some family pictures. It appears that my great grandfather had the same interest as me. As you could see we have some hoppers in the area so it was still in service.
