A Buffalo News article about the removal of the Transit Road Lehigh Valley overpass, just east of old Niagara Junction. Includes a couple videos of the span being removed.

Apparently they want to widen the road, but they don't have the money to cover the whole project so they figured they may as well start eradicating history ASAP with the money they do have. Progress!

You're right, Henry. To widen the road, the remaining 3 bridge overpasses, DL&W, ERIE, and NYC will need extensive, and expensive modernizing. Until that happens, all they have done is erase one more piece of "The Route Of The Black Diamond". Not that it really matters, I guess. Except to our memory...

It is sad to see the LV bridge go. With that being said, David Monte Verde from GVT has indicated NYS DOT will eventually replace the other active RR bridges at Transit Road, including the DL&W bridge.
