As I tend to have way to much time on my hands and love to read, I thought I would put a thread together with "Archived" news stories on my favorite road, the Late, Great Lehigh Valley. The information that is available for the history buff is amazing, anyway, give it a read, contribute or comment.

The articles might be very interesting, but they're unreadable. Even zooming in on the page doesn't help. The font just gets very fuzzy.

Nice idea though.

I resized the images, when I first posted them I was viewing from the "jumbo" display and not my laptop, that was a world of difference.

Yes. I can just read them now on my 17" desktop display. 84 year old eyes are not what they used to be.

I love looking at all this old stuff.  Sometimes makes me wish I was born 50 years earlier just to see it in person.  A question reguarding the roundhouse.  Were all the roundhouses built under the same design along the Lehigh Valley?  I live in Manchester, NY and this one is identical.  If so I would like to see if I could find a detailed architechtural drawing and try to build one at a smaller scale in my wood shop.

All roundhouses on the LV were definitely not the same design.   I am familiar with the ones at Easton, Packerton, and Coxton and all 3 were different.   Part of this may have to do with the fact that they were constructed (or reconstructed) at different points in time and part of it depends on whether the structures were acquired by the LV when they bought up feeder lines or whether they were added as part of the backbone of the main line.   It would appear that the LV was not a huge proponent of standardized structures.   Their stations and depots are often visually appealing, but with a few exceptions,  mostly individually unique.
