In 1940, American Locomotive Company (ALCO) will start production of the S1, a 660 HP, ALCO 539 (4-cycle, 6 cylinder) diesel, on a 4 axle, 44 5 frame with a total weight of 210,000 lbs. A total of 550 S1 units are built thru 1950. In 1950 the Lehigh Valley will purchase 1 unit, Road Number 117.

In 1940, General Electric will start production of the 44-Ton Switcher. Equipped with a pair of 180 HP, D17000 (4-cycle, V8) Caterpillar diesels, on a 4 axle, 28 4 frame with a total weight of 90,000 lbs. A total of 385 units are built thru 1956. In 1941 the Lehigh Valley will purchase 1 unit, Road Number 60, and purchase 2 more units, Road Numbers 61 & 62 in 1942. Pictured below is LV 62.

In 1939, Baldwin Locomotive Works (BLW) will start production of the VO-1000, a 1000 HP, De La Vergne VO (4-cycle, 8 cylinder) diesel, on a 4 axle, 48 10 frame with a total weight of 244,500 lbs. A total of 548 units are built thru 1948. In 1944 the Lehigh Valley will purchase the 5 units, Road Numbers 135 - 139. Pictured is LV 135.

A total of 661 units are built thru 1953. In 1939 the Lehigh Valley will purchase 1 unit, Road Number 112, purchase 3 units in 1940, Road Numbers 113 115 and 2 additional units in 1950, Road Numbers 118 and 119. Pictured is LV 112.

A total of 1,145 units are built thru 1949. In 1949 the Lehigh Valley will purchase 7 units, Road Number 180 186. Pictured is LV 180.

From 1931 thru 1940, American Locomotive Company (ALCO) will start production of the HH (High Hood) Series (Models 600, 660, 900 & 1000) for a total production of 177 units. In February of 1940 the Lehigh Valley will purchase 1, HH660 unit previously owned by ACL and returned to ALCO.  It is equipped with a 660 HP, McIntosh & Seymour 538 (4-cycle, 6 cylinder) diesel, on a 4 axle, 43 6 frame with a total weight of 206,120 lbs. Pictured below is LV 116.

Pictured below is LV 102, an ALCO HH300, purchased in July, 1931 (previously ALCO Demo #301). Of the 7 HH300s built, The Lehigh Valley had 2 and the U.S. Navy owned the other 5.

To the best of my knowledge the HH series used Blunt trucks exclusively.

Pictured below is LV 76, an EMD, 400hp Box-Cab. Used at the Lehigh Valley's Jersey City Washington Street freight terminal. It was renumbered from 116 in 1938 and scrapped in 1953.

Pictured below is LV 100, purchased in 1926 from EMC, originally built jointly by American Locomotive Works, General Electric and Ingersoll-Rand (AGEIR) in 1925. The second Diesel owned by the Lehigh Valley.

I also recall seeing a photo of a boxcab in Cornell with black stripes, perhaps in Extra 2200 South? Have to dig out my old LV issues.
