In 1950, American Locomotive Company (ALCO) will start production of the RS3, a 1600 HP, 244 (4-cycle, V-12) diesel, on a 4 axle, 55’ 11” frame with a total weight of 229,000 lbs. A total of 1,370 units are built thru 1956. In 1950 the Lehigh Valley will purchase the 2 units, Road Numbers 215 & 216. Pictured is LV 215.

In 1950, General Motors, Electro Motive Division (EMD) will start production of the SW8, a 800 HP, EMD 567B (8 cylinder) diesel, on a 4 axle, 44’ 5” frame with a total weight of 230,000 lbs. A total of 374 units are built thru 1954. In 1950 the Lehigh Valley will purchase 27 units, Road Numbers 250 - 276. Pictured is LV 254.

In 1950, Baldwin Locomotive Works (BLW) will start production of the S12, a 1200 HP, 606A SC (4-cycle, 6 cylinder) diesel, on a 4 axle, 48’ 0” frame with a total weight of 240,000 lbs. A total of 451 units are built thru 1956. In 1950 the Lehigh Valley will purchase the 14 units, Road Numbers 230 - 243. Pictured is LV 240.

A total of 2,366 A units and 1,483 B units are built thru 1953. In 1949 the Lehigh Valley will purchase 8 A units (Road Numbers 560 – 574, even) and 6 B units (Road Numbers 561 - 571, odd). In 1945, American Locomotive Company (ALCO) will start production of the FA1 & FB1, a 1600 HP, ALCO 244 (4-cycle, V-12) diesel, on a 4 axle, 51’ 6” frame (FA1, FB1 length is 50’ 2”) with a total weight of 230,000 lbs (per unit). A total of 417 FA1 units & 209 FB1 units are built thru 1950. In 1948 the Lehigh Valley will purchase the 10 FA1 units & 10 FB1 units, FA1 Road Numbers 530, 532, 534, 536, 538, 540, 542, 544, 546 & 548 and FB2 Road Numbers 531, 533, 535, 537, 539, 541, 543, 545, 547 & 549. The FA2/FB2 units will remain in service until 1964. Pictured is LV 530 & 535.

In 1946, American Locomotive Company (ALCO) will start production of the PA1 & PB1, a 2000 HP, ALCO 244 (4-cycle, V-16) diesel, on a 6 axle, 65’ 8” frame (PA1, PB1 length is 63’ 8”) with a total weight of 303,500 lbs (per unit). A total of 250 PA1 units & 47 PB1 units are built thru 1953. In 1948 the Lehigh Valley will purchase the 14 PA1 units, Road Numbers 601 – 614. Pictured is LV 614.

While its obviously some excellent modeling, we probably shouldn't mix in model photos with prototype photos, just for the purposes of historic accuracy..
(there is  model photo in this thread, and one slipped into the "freight info" thread too..)
 
perhaps some of Lee's stunning O-scale modeling?..so good you *almost* cant even tell they are models!   im not sure if someone actually thinks they are photos of prototype equipment, or if someone is attempting to sneak in some model photos in to see if anyone notices!   (I noticed!)

i'm curious,does anyone know how much the LV paid for any of there locomotives ? since they bought more than 1 of the various locomotives they had in there fleet,did they get a discount on the price ?? what kind of warrenty came with them if any,i know my cousin who worked in the Sayre shops was sent to the Paducha shops for some training.
