I think the freight station is still there too. I still want to go to Sayre one of these days though!

Sayre is on the docket for 2016, as per Scot's suggestion.

Reference the Naples branch:

Gorham station still standing, at least it was in 2012.

At Stanley if one knows where to look there remains some evidence of the PRR/LVRR crossing.

Here is a photo I grabbed of the station at Gorham in October of 2012.

This station replaced a previous structure which was destroyed by fire in July, 1913.

Construction began in the fall of 1913 and the station was opened for use in May, 1914.

Cost of construction was $8000.00.

The final passenger trains to serve the station, Nos. 592 & 593, came off on 01 June 1930. The final mixed train service, Nos. 594 & 595 were discontinued on 24 April 1938.

Let's do it! There are structures to see and most of the line is a nice trail, too.

Special thanks to TBD for the tips, too.

I have been having a conversation this evening with john and Ken regarding the date of the meet-up. We like the 2nd weekend of April- preferably Saturday 4/11/2015 if possible. What do the rest of you think? I hope it is a good date for as many LV fans as possible.

That date looks good to me. Maybe we could start in Naples, meet at Bob and Ruth's for breakfast.

We have a quorum- we will meet Sat 4/11/2015 @ Bob & Ruth's in Naples and then head in a northeasterly (compass) direction to follow the branch.

If I can get the Saturday April 11th off, count me in too. But...seriously doubt that they will give it to me as starting this week, I'm using up some carried over vacation time and won't be back to work till March 2nd! Tired of bone-chilling winds or like yesterday, getting soaked and trudging through wet snow.

The meet-up is 1 month from today!

With that in mind, please E-mail me via mistersnoozer@yahoo.com if you plan to attend. I'd like to get a head count, especially for breakfast. You can include a cell phone # if desired- it will help in case anyone gets lost.

Unless anyone objects, I suggest we meet at Bob & Ruth's at 8 AM. I know at least one LV fan will be driving 2 hours to meet us, so let's not make it too hard on him, OK?

Sorry to say I will not be there this year. I would love to see Doug and get his take on the branch. I still see Dan Sloat who worked the branch, and has some good stories to tell about it. Wish you guys could "beam" Paul east from Colorado. I am sure his knowledge would of great value as well.  Have fun guys. Keith

Sorry you can't make it, Keith. You will be missed. Hopefully you can join us in Sayre next year.
