Saturday's forecast is a high in the mid-40s and a slight chance of showers. I'm bringing boots just in case...

Good to see everyone yesterday!  Despite the weather we caught some good sights.  Williamsville station was great, and the caboose restoration impressive (and was fun with Keith's memories and info.)  Thanks Matthew_L for putting this all together- nice job!

Here are photos I took: http://kengardnerny.smugmug.com/140405meetup/

Trying SmugMug.com for the first time so it's a little rough, just the bulk pictures, and there's an annoying watermark I couldn't remove.  If there's anything anybody wants, shoot me an e-mail and I'll send the original.

Wow guys; I keep thinking you can't do better then last year but once again you did. Thanks Matt for the complete awesome day! Good to see all you guys again. I know brother Dan had a good time too. Sorry to see we missed a few guys, but I hope they can make the next trip. Sure do wish we had Paul T. along to explain some of the things I know he had answers to. Was real good to be "lost" for 2 days! Great time indeed.   Keith Bednar

Keith- it was my pleasure to organize this event. I was very happy to see you and your brother again.

Buffalo is on the docket again for next year- that will also be my baby. Sayre will be in 2016 and that will be in Scott's hands.

Another great thing about A Walk With The Lehigh Valley RR is the conversations we have. That means as much to me as the places we visit. I hope our adventures will continue for many years to come.

As promised, here are my pics from 4th annual edition of A Walk With The Lehigh Valley RR.

Stop #1 was a restored depot which sits next to the Niagara Branch YOW.

The depot has a nice stove, but the fire marshal won't let them use it.

Most of the station's stained glass has been saved and restored.

Restored signal:

Bruce, Dan, Keith and our host Art:

The station office looked very authentic (except for the TV):

The next stop was the old LV freight house in Niagara Falls, which Amtrak nows uses.

The eastbound Maple Leaf was idling when we arrived. Amtrak named this train in tribute to the famous LV train

This is the former NYC/PC yard, which LV trains passed thru as they went to/from Suspension Bridge Yard:

it looks like Amtrak may have modified the west end of the old LV freight house, IMO:

Inside the station:

I'm not use if the loading dock is original, either.

One more look at the ex-LV freight house now used by Amtrak:

All photos in this post were taken by me Saturday 4/5/2014 in Niagara Falls, NY. I will resume sharing photos of our adventure in a day or two.

After our visit to Niagara Falls, we headed south to view a couple of LV survivors.

This is Buffalo Creek #43, which IIRC is owned by WNYRHS.

BCK was a jointly owned subsidiary of LV and Erie/EL, which is why IMO this HH660 qualifies as a Lehigh Valley survivor.

LV #107 (which is owned by the Buffalo Southern) is OOS, and will eventually be stuffed and mounted at the depot we saw earlier.

All photos in this post were taken by me Saturday 4/52012 in Hamburg, NY.

We also paid a visit to the remains of the LV terminal at Tifft Street, which included this water base.

It's sad to think that this was an active railyard 40 years ago.

CSX refers to this as Track #17, a nice nod to its LV heritage.

Our final LV-related stop was at Red Jacket Park, where we took a look at CP Draw. The lowered bridge is a former Buffalo Creek structure, which became the main bridge when Conrail realigned the tracks in the 1980s. The raised bridge is ex-NKP. I think the LV/N&W pool trains crossed it back in the day, but I am not 100% sure.

All photos in this post were taken by me Saturday 4/5/2014 in Buffalo, NY. There are other photos from this trip which I will share in other places as time permits. To Keith, Dan, Scot, Ken, Bob and Bruce- thank you all for joining me this year. It was another fun adventure.
