For anyone who wants to find the rail and tie, it was just east of this mile marker... but on the other side of the trail.

Matt there were more ties still in the ground west of the rails a bit, follow along where those tracks would have gone and they were probably another 20 yards or so

After we left Rochester Junction, the Lehigh Valley Walkers* headed over to the Rochester & Genesee Valley RR Museum to tour the equipment. I headed straight up into #211 as soon as we got there.

Yours truly at the throttle of #211. No, the RS3m wasn't moving!

Keith took his turn in the seat, too. Apparently, these seats were installed by Conrail, as Keith told us #211's seats had no arm rests back in the LV era.

Oh wow... I missed those ties. I'm glad you found them.

BTW, I recorded your turn in the engineer's seat of #211.

This is the view of #211 and the former Kodak RS1 as we walked up the hill to see the caboose.

I enjoyed visiting the former LV caboose which was being restored inside the RGVRRM's shop.

This was Keith's final lesson of the day, IIRC. He described the inner workings of this friction bearing journal on the tank car.

Here is my parting shot of the day- taken from my dependable chase vehicle. I really enjoyed the Walk with the Lehigh Valley in 2012 and hope we do it again next year.

*-I have been unofficially referring to our gathering as a Walk with the Lehigh Valley and calling the participants the Lehigh Valley Walkers. Do we want to officially use those terms for our group?

Matt, Lehigh Valley Walkers makes me think of something old folks in Bethlehem use to get around their retirement home, sorry.  Good thinking though. How about Lehigh Valley Railroad Explorers.....   or Apollos?

Lehigh Valley Apollos sounds good.  I want to meet up with you all at some point just the timing has been off for me.  Maybe next year.

I never thought of my term that way... but I do have to admit the Lehigh Valley Apollos does have a nice ring to it. What does the rest of the group think?

Finally got a chance to read/look at the posting. (super busy at work). Great pictures and informations guys!! Thanks!! On page 14 with Charlie mentioning Keith being sharp eyed to find the link had me wondering if it was something found on the phone/pad/laptop or whatnot but not posted and then the talk of 'swimming' Had to laugh when I read what that was about on the next page.
On page 16, in the first picture of RJ (thanks Keith!), is that a ball signal before being replaced by the semaphore as shown in the second picture?
Thanks!
Chris

Chris, There were never any Ball signals at Rochester Junction to my knowledge, only Semephores and Searchlights!

Chris, you are very welcome! Since we're on the subject of gratitude, I will thank Bernie for letting us tour the equipment in Victor.
