Inside the compartment where I believe the icebox was I found this still on the unpainted sheetmetal.

After we all left the museum, I still had the rest of the day to kill. Made my way south thru Avon, to Mt Morris. Photographed some interesting RR structures along the way, but they aren't LV of course. I'll post them if anyone is interested. An old stone arch bridge, the Mt Morris Station- I think it was DL&W, and the Letchworth bridge.

Eventually wound my way to Burdett, where someone that day had been asking me if the station was still there

Looking westward down the main (compass north). They have a heck of a neighborhood watch here, twice in 5 minutes someone stopped to ask what I was doing

So I decided I had to climb the emankment to see the ROW on top. I was very suprised at how loose the terrain is on the side of the embankment, and steep! The earth is a fine aggregate of loose soil and bits of coal and cinders, almost like climbing a giant sandpile. Made it to the top only to find the jungle so thick it wasn't worth taking a picture, so here's a view back down the embankment at my truck parked far below.

And here's a view of the same spot when it was shiny and new. For perspective, note the man standing in the tunnel

Thanks to all for the kind words. Nice job to Charlie, Bob and Keith for their photos.

There is one thing I forgot to include from Rochester Junction. The scrappers apparently missed a short section of rail... which is still in place now.

The rail at Rochester Junction was yet another discovery by Ken- who had scouted out the place in advance of our visit and wrote down notes. That's the kind of homework I like.

I found a small chunk of tie imbedded in the cinders at Rochester Junction.
