There is a remote chance of my making a trip east this spring.

If so, when would it be?

Stopped in to Rochester Junction again... wow, we might've had our meet-up a year too early: Not only is the wye all done (crushed stone trail, bridges refurbished) but there is now a LV box car on that section of tracks!!!

Actually, im glad we toured the wye and bridges when we did!
It was cool to see them in their unmodified state, untouched since the rails were lifted many decades ago...I would have been disappointed if my first time out on the wye had been this spring after everything was changed..(not that there is anything wrong with the recent improvements..but you see what I mean! from a historical standpoint, im glad we went last spring)..of course, it would also be cool to see them now too..

If we do another tour this year, im in!

Scot- I like your idea. I'm leaning towards a meet-up on either April 14th or April 28th. We should make Rochester Junction part of the tour.

So, has anybody put out A date? If not,

 will propose Saturday April 14th

Possible itinerary:

1. See LV Caboose in Victor
2. Rochester Jct
3. See new LV Caboose at RGVRRM

Possibility for that day, or another.

Scout out Hemlock branch south of Junction. Depot in Honeoye Falls, Depot and wye in Hemlock.

Matt has partial contact list from last year,,,, Bob, are you out there

Yup I'm here, I'm just hanging back to see what date seems to be settled on, so I can plan on having it off. I wouldn't want to miss the chance to meet TB Diamond and Darktown2! And the guys from last year, of course!

Cannot at this point in time relate positively that I will be able to make it back east in April.

One factor is family health considerations.

Another is the price of gasoline which right now appears to be rising at an alarming rate. It is right at 1800 miles from where we reside to RJ.

Will post in this forum shortly prior to the meeting date if I will be able to make it or not.

You can not go far on the hemlock(Rochester) branch, some is now private property and the landowners do not want people walikng through it, Papa trestle is long gone. The station in honeoye falls is in great shape though.

1917 Rochester Junction map!

Click here for the FULL SIZE map!

http://scotlawrence.smugmug.com/photos/i-M57tVfB/0/O/i-M57tVfB-O.jpg

Map belongs to John Stewart, who let me borrow it to scan and to share with everyone here..thanks John!

the small version above shows the whole map, but obviously its WAY too small to see the text at all...in order to read the text, you have to open it FULL size, but then the whole thing doesnt fit on a computer screen! I attempted to make a "medium" size that would *mostly* fot on a computer screen, but you still cant read all the text..so people will just have to open it full-size then scroll around the map to view it..

Thanks John for sharing the map!
I will give the original back to John at the Rochester meetup, and I will also bring a full-size copy (about 10" by 27") that we can view at the meetup, then I will just leave the print with the museum and they can have it..

the original map is a true "blue print"..I converted it to B&W for the internet, simply to save on file size..there is no loss of data, except for color!

thanks,
Scot

OK, looks official for 4/14.

Mark is working on a tour of the LV caboose in Victor, Scot has new maps of the Junction, and there is a new caboose at the RGVRRM.

Sounds like another good one.

I am thinking we should meet in Victor?

I'm thinking that we should meet at a restaurant that offers breakfast, so those of us (like me) who are hungry can get something to eat. Those who aren't hungry could get coffee or juice, if they want.
