There is a new LNE video in the works from John Pechulis sharp316b@netscape.net  . It will be on LNE facilities. No firm date for release has been announced but John says it will be out soon .

Hi all,

The "tentative" (and this may change) release date is later this year (likely near November). I am still in the initial phases for the production. I am still hoping to acquire a bit more footage. There is still footage to be transferred, scripts to be written, narration and commentary to be recorded and maps to be made.

Not to mention, I'm also working on Railfanning With the Bednars Volume 5 and another D&H production.

I'll provide updates as we move along.

Thanks,
John

Can't wait to see the new video! Will this be primarily new footage, old footage, or a mixture of the two?  I've seen most of the facilities up close and personal..... but I know some old footage exists.

Hi Alex,

I have some older footage of the LNE in Catasauqua, Bath, Bender's Jct, Penn Argyl, Portland as well footage of the LNE ry at national siding and a Sunday job. I also have some footage early into Conrail which mimics the LNE ry run. I also have footage from a 1975 trip chasing the remains of the LNE from the north side of Hauto tunnel to Pen Argyl.

I'm still hoping to find footage in the other areas for which I do not have. If anyone knows of any, I would be much obliged to be able to use it. I'm looking for footage of either the LNE, LNE rwy, Conrail and even under NS.

Thanks in advance,
John

An update: Breaking news!

I just received 4 reels of SUPER RARE footage of the LNE in operation taken between 1959 and 1962. I've only briefly looked at a few of the reels. Let me just say, my jaw DROPPED when I saw some of what was on the reels!

Places like Dexter hill, Lehigh Gap bridge, interchange with the Reading at Tamaqua yard - with STEAM - camelbacks no less! Footage from Pen Argyl to Maybrook with scenes of Erie trains! There is so much great rare footage here!

I'm thinking this may end up being two volumes!

I'll keep everyone updated!

We are getting closer. There will be 3 volumes in total.

Volume 1 will cover Hauto to Pen Argyl, Pen Argyl to Bath, Bath to Catasauqua and the Allentown an Bethlehem branches. The likely release date will probably be December or January.

Volume 2 will cover Bath to Martins Creek and Pen Argyl to Maybrook. It's release is targeted for February.

Volume 3 will cover operations after the LNE quit - sale of equipment, track abandonment, operations of the LNE Railway and into Conrail - no release date yet.

I will give an update as we get closer to the release of Volume 1.

Excellent video. It is great to see the L&NE in action.
Video quality was excellent as well. it definitely did not seem like I was watching video that was 50-60 years old.

Can't wait for volume 2
