Past Corkhill Rd to Franklin, most of the ROW is still visable only in the fall and winter.

Coming out to Franklin from Ogdensburg. The NYS&W runs here on the existing track

Franklin to Vernon. Behind us, the abandoned track to Ogdensburg.

While at Franklin, take a tour at the Franklin Mineral Museum.

During my recent exploration of the Hanford Branch of the NYS&W, I got derailed once again in the area of Franklin. It's not at all that hard to do with both railroads having history in this area. So, while I posted the Hanford Branch information on the NYS&W forum, I thought I would share my findings with you for here in the L&HR forum.

As opposed to reposting these pictures here as well as the NYS&W forum and taking additional server space, you can view the new pictures here.

http://forums.railfan.net/forums.cgi?board=NYSW;action=display;num=1095384669;start=40

Here are a list of items I was able to see:

1) The old mile-marker for the L&HR that shows Franklin as the halfway point.
2) The connection with the L&H with the Franklin Branch of the DL&W which was
    removed in 1938, I believe.
3) Some old signals.

Jim,

I hear that some committee wanted to remove them to make a rail-to-trail path there but the owner didn't want people to go by the station in fear of vandals so, the tracks remain. This bring us up to the war on whether to keep the tracks or remove them for a trail.

Since the owner wasn't there for me to talk to, I have no idea what this buiulding was used for. Any ideas?

A little further down on RT46, I ran across this sign. Down the road there's a small bridge. Is the name Hudson for the L&HR

I found this restaurant on RT46. I don't believe it's open though.
