Back up from the yard and aiming south on the LHR main , the
boys widen on the smoke generators and head out.

Yes, this isn't really the LHR, as it was owned by Susie by then.
In fact, they are about to tear it up. Im standing on the Graham
Line looking toward Maybrook and the line hoppers they
were storing there.

Rev,

Thank you so much to adding these pictures to the forum. Other than the pictures in the L&HR book, I haven't really seen any pictures online.

Heading up to the Maybrook train museum next week.

Thanks again.

Ken

Your recent posts are GREAT additions to the forum...many thanks for sharing them.  If you've had a chance to poke around, you've seen that members njvike and hummel have been doing alot of detective work, showing what remains of L&HR trackage and facilities today. It's guys like you and Marty who complete the picture by showing us what it was like when L&HR and E-L colors still ran the rails.

Thanks again.
-Charlie

A small correction, Rev...

The shot from the E&J bridge (Graham Line) is of then CR trackage- Suzie Q never owned anything north of Pelton Road (County Rt. 1, Warwick). That was part of the Hudson Secondary (a naming usage inherited from the PRR by PC, continued by CR and now NS).

I remember those hoppers parked there- if memory serves (NEVER a sure bet) they had been used for ballast for the 'new' Hudson Junction connector- CR just had them shoved up there, to get 'em out of the way; to be removed 'whenever'. After they were gone, Conjob finally got around to ripping up the rails above the connector.

Now that you mention it, I remember that NS got the line above Pelton.
That is why the Susie fan trains turned at the siding there. By the way,
I have pix of the time they came up there with a brand new GE unit
with the nose all stove in!

I have more for tomorrow night if I get a few moments at work to
post them up.

I have no time this year but I have been giving thought to going
back to the original sites and doing a before and after bit.
I remember David P Morgan tried to get the good Dr. Hastings
to go and do his Steam in Indian Summer again years after the
fact. He wouldnt do it and I think Morgan did it with his wife.
Sadly both of those guys got bit by butts and corked off way
too early.
I had better get it planned before 1. I buy the farm or 2. before
the whole damn county is a parking lot.

Thanks for all your encouragement.

This is out of sequence, but here is the Susie coming into
Maybrook . Pretty sure the LHR line is on the left there.
Neither the big alcos nor the reverse move at Maybrook
lasted very long.
