Yeah, I have to admit that I was silly enough to try to fool you guys again so soon. Yes indeed, a "modern era" view of Greycourt, NY

Re: Guess The Location - L&HR Edition - By Raritan Clunker on 04/04/16 at 15:49:03 - 'Untitled.jpg' 59 KB
Even with this hack crop job, it should be obvious where this is.

Re: Guess The Location - L&HR Edition - By Bridge 1A on 01/04/16 at 12:27:50 - 'LHR1.jpg' 57 KB
This one should be easy, especially for people like Mr. Marty.........Let's see how many of you are good engine spotters and can ID the loco (RR or even engine type) on the headend.............Photo credits to follow

Gee, you guys sure seem to be "courting" for me to reveal the answer!

Well, since I have two of you who clearly have G'd The L, let's open up this view of the L&HR interchange connection to the Erie at Greycourt, NY!

Students of the L&H should have no problem with this one.....

Technically, this is a Conrail era photo, the cars, engines and setting are pure L&HR....GTL.............

Re: Fantasy L&HR Engine - By LHR2158 on 07/03/07 at 23:59:08 - 'Custom_Painted_C420_LHR_22.jpg' 19 KB
Thanks for putting my picture up on the LHR engine!
My family worked for the LHR and well its a dream of what may have been.

The camera I had was a piece of junk but its painted in PRR Brunswick Green just the same as the old RS3's were.

I have modeled and sold many LHR engines in the past and have extensive material on the LHR.

If anyone is interested send me a message.

We are now on the existing NYS&W line and immediately see the line that once went to the Atlas Quarry. I *believe* this operation shut down in the 1920s or 30s. Another trip perhaps

Re: L&HR: Upper End - By njvike on 12/27/06 at 20:16:31 - 'bridgegone.jpg' 181 KB
Our Hanford Branch trip comes to a quick end for this outing. Here it appears that a small bridge carried the trains beyond this point.

[17]

Re: L&HR: Upper End - By njvike on 12/27/06 at 20:14:17 - 'oldtie.jpg' 205 KB
Not sure if this is from the existing NYS&W tracks or if this is an original (Hanford Branch)

If you look real close at the DL&W Franklin Branch, you can see what appears to be the base for a signal heading back towards the station.

Looking at the DL&W Franklin Branch. We cannot proceed any further than here as it is private property

An interesting note. As we go back to the NYS&W/L&HR tracks, the homes above to the left of the rails have stairs leading down to the rails. Why would they ever do this? Seems a little dangerous to me

Re: L&HR: Upper End - By njvike on 12/27/06 at 19:09:06 - 'switch-2.jpg' 169 KB
On the way back to Franklin, we spot this house with a switch?. I would have liked to have talked to the homeowner but nobody was home. The house is just back of the ROW.

Re: L&HR: Upper End - By njvike on 12/27/06 at 18:51:59 - 'tomine.jpg' 201 KB
The bridge above the L&HR/NYS&W in Franklin is going to be replaced soon. I have no date as to when this is going to happen so I took the camera and took some pictures for the record.

We are where the station for the DL&W and NYS&W once stood looking towards the Sterling Mine Museum or NJ Zinc.

Fantasy L&HR Engine - By CAR FLOATER on 06/05/06 at 16:02:06 - 'ce_1.jpg' 26 KB
I saw this on eBay, and thought you guys would get  a kick out of it....
It's incredibly at $65.00 right now, too!
The item number is 6062669054 if you need to see it for yourself, it's pretty creative if you ask me, even if the colors look a little off.
(And no, it's not my auction, thank you....)

The ROW, now on Private Property, or so this person says, is clear. It's about 100 yards before it appears to go back to heavy vegetation. I will go back to Lake Iliff and head back to this area to complete this section.

A telegraph pole is spotted. I normally don't get too happy to see them because they are so common on the L&HR but in this area, nothing is

It's been a while since I last explored the L&HR but with the recent talk of a possible trail being placed down I thought it would be a good idea to take pictures now. This coupled with the growing vegitation got me out again.

After haunting this forum for a while and contributing every once in a while I decide to peak in this thread, and what a treat.  The C-420's rather formidable profile from up close has always been a favorite of mine.  Here is a C420 shot, there might be an ex-L&H in there somewhere.  I am not to good at keeping track of units lineage

I'm going to go back there again real soon as I didn't have much time. I hope there is either more ties or a milepost; that would be great

In about a week or so, I will be following this trail to Andover which pretty much ends my series of the L&HR in NJ.

On to NY
