Thanks for more history on the old Clinchfield!
What I have next to contribute is an F-7 leading the A-B-A pack here going in or out of an engine facility in 1956.
If anyone out there has an idea, please throw your hat in!

In keeping with the bridge theme, here is a southbound manifest crossing the Ohio River from Cincinnati into Covington, KY. The B&O CPLs add a nice touch here---an anomolie because of non B&O trackage----but a welcome sight nevertheless.

Here's a famous shot of the line by Jim Boyd.  Anyone know where this photo was taken (sorry, had to crop the photo a bit, but I'm sure others have seen the photo in its entirety).  In the uncropped version the train looks as if it is passing behind a town?

The skyline of Cincinnati, the bridges, and the Ohio River are in plain view now as the train will cross over from Kentucky into Ohio.

Later, the NKP #765 is in the curve just past (I hope this is correct---OB Tower) in Covington on its approach to the Ohio River and Cincinnati.

Monon Railroads' centennial train rolled to a stop in Rensselaer on July 28, 1947. The historic train made five stops from Hammond to Lafayette on the first leg of its southward trek.   Monon is an Indian word that means "swift running."   This ROW in Indiana is now a jogging trail.

A great aerial shot of the Louisville Terminal complex in all of it's splendor!
The date of erection was 1876: 1889-1891  Construction first began on the site for a railroad station in 1876, but was soon abandoned.  Construction resumed in August of 1889 ,utilizing and enlarging the previous foundation. The building was formally opened September 7,1891 by the arrival of the first train at 7:37 am.  Total cost amounted to $310,056.
At its opening, it was the largest train station in the south and the second largest in the west next to Chicago.
In 1978 Louisville and Nashville sold the Union Station to Transit Authority of River City.
