On page 14, of Zimmermann's book "The Remarkable GG1", is a photograph showing the 4820 in the sans serif lettering as Raymond Lowey envisioned it. This lettering, to my mind, is the most elegant of all the types of lettering given to these locomotives in their lifetime. It doesn't seem to have lasted for too long in actual practice.

How long was it used?
