A friend has brought to my attention E33 4601, which still exists but is in bad shape. Is it likely we'll ever see it put together again?
to the best of my knowledge, only one other E33 exists as a Virgininan painted unit down in Roanoke, VA.

I have it listed as belonging to the RR Museum of New England, which is in Thomaston, CT...but im not sure if that is correct.

because the locomotive is physically located at the "Valley Railroad", which is in Essex, CT.  The two railroads are 60 miles apart..
so im actually not clear on who owns the motor..

I just recently heard it was to be moved, and that it would go under the wire again, if only to see if it still works. I'm thinking though its going to need a lot of work before they actually use it to pull trains (apperantly there is a rumor around that it migh actually get put into service of some kind again along wit the EMU cars somewhere behind it).

Well if they do get it under the wires again, would it run on PRR or Amtrak line? That'll be pretty cool if the old girl still has some power in her.

If I'm not mistaken, I think this engine was originally built for the Virginian Railway. Hope it will be preserved.

Wasn't it supposed to have been painted into New Haven orange?

4601 is currently sitting at the NS engine shops in Juniata PA.    I could only see the unit from a distance but its appearance is still very much similar to the first post in this thread.    For those who are curious the engine can be seen clearly from the Taco bell that is across the street from the shops.   My cell phones camera does not have the capability for me to get any pictures that are decent.

I am making the assumption that the unit is there for review and possible rebuild.  Worst case review before being sent to be scrapped.

Slight Edit.    Was looking at the Railway preservation news forums.  it appears the unit is to be repainted in conrail blue  and then sent to the IRM

Not likely to see juice jacks restored to operation these days - most of them have PCB fluid in the transformers and other gear. Not anything the EP will allow to be turned loose on the rails.

Saw it still sitting in the NS Juniata yard yesterday.  I got a pic but you can't see the frame or anything lower.  Looked in pretty rough shape.  Not sure how to include the pic I got.
