Grading and Aligning......  - 30 June 2015

I didn't get to photograph the timbers being replaced or the new asphalt being installed, the crews worked well into the late evening.

#2 Track hosted a train around 3:00 am. and the crossing was reopened to vehicle traffic this morning (01 July 2015)

Excellent thread! I appreciate the pictures of the work that goes into keeping the trains running. I do envy their toys though, on my 250 miles of mainline we do all the crossing projects with one backhoe and running a smoothing gang through is a rare event.

It does go much faster with pre built panels versus rebuilding in place.

Interesting. Didn't take pictures when they reworked the yard here, taking some track out where it crossed West Main (leaving three stub sidings where they had crossed W. Main and the associated switches at the north end of the yard), but the rebuild of the crossings (second time since we have been here) clearly went MUCH easier by "just" dropping in pre-built panels.
