The other Marx car is a IHCX 3130 flat car with two bull dozers on it.

I like the passenger cars. They don't make them like that anymore. Oddly enough I usually see Marx and Gilbert trains in antique shops not so much at RR shows.

Well not so where I am. No antique shops here. Only some train shows anywhere from 15 to 70 miles away, and a flea market 15 miles away.

The name Varney is known by us old modelers. Well Gordon Varney seems to have produced a little something for Modelers to be able to display a Varney model on their desk or on a glass windowed curio shelf in ones dining room or where things of sentimental value are displayed. Even at work on ones desk or workbench.
Recently I came across a Varney single dome tank car. BECCO. I have the car already in my collection but here it was on a display stand. On the bottom of the stand is the Varney name, The city, and state where Varney was located, and even a Varney part Number. Never seen one before. Is this a item made and listed in their catalog. I don't think so. Made as a special order for the BECCO company as a holiday gift for some employees. I have no Idea. All I can do is share this item with you. Maybe someone who does know something of this display train can tell us all.

* Here is my other BEECO tank car. It is more like new and the red lettering is much brighter. I may replace bodies so the display model is more perfect. Also the trucks used on the display if I am correct are not Varney but Athearn. I have a set of good Varney trucks to put on it. We'll see.

Well here is the ECCO tank all spiffed up looking pretty good.

Well speaking of rare. these mounted display cars were small runs that private companies ordered for promotional purposes. A modeler  over in the Tyco forum has a small collection of these display cars. He has 5 of them and knows of two more. Now with mine, he knows of 3 more.

Here is another Mark Car I just got this past weekend.
The Rock Island, Work Car. RI 90798. It can be used as a Crane tender car, or even a caboose.

Here is a wooden car kit that I performed paint touch up, plus new trucks and couplers. Not sure of the manufacturer but it has paper sides and PLASTIC doors on the top. This is the first time I have seen this combination. It is a nice car and after adding some weights it runs well with the other reefers I have.

Aside from the massive ladder, it is a pretty nice looking reefer.

*  A very nice reefer, nice and bright in color and clear lettering. So many companies made wood kit cars. And for a long a time. You got a good one.

**  Here's a Gilbert CB&Q 2 bay coal hopper with load I just got this past weekend at a flea market. Gilbert #501. This car also came in a Varney version with the same Gilbert number. It was sold by Gilbert. I have posted a photo of it here already.

In 1956 HObbyline had a HO streamline passenger train. Their first road name is Pennsylvania Railroad. I finally got the Train set.
* The coaches are named. Morrisville, Trenton, and Princeton. The Yardley is the Observation cars name.

Another Gilbert car I have added to my collection is a Koppers tank car 518 by Gilbert. With the same number, 518 there is a Varney type car also. Gilbert has associations with Varney, Marx and Tyco with each company benefiting from these associations. The ruff look of this car shows the condition I got it in.

If I remember correctly I saw one of these years ago in NJ on the CNJ. The car you have has a weathered look to it which makes it look more like the real thing. nice one

Decals have been applied to the caboose. It is a close match to the ERIE wooden cabooses built by Magor in my wife's hometown of Clifton NJ.

I picked up this reefer because I had been to Yakima Wash years back and remember the huge apple silos that were outside of town. The carbody had to be re-glued with paint touch ups. The trucks were brass, but I replaced them with the metal sprung trucks since the others didn't roll very well. All wood and metal with decals added at some point. Not sure if it was "weathered" or just aged naturally this way.
