** Next HObbyline box car is GAEX, General American car company. GAEX 109029. Like the Frisco box car before it, both have the original HObbyline couplers.

** Well Vern we got a few HObbyline boxcars in place. To get back to what you said about Walters and their Ready to run lines. I received a present on my last birthday of a Walters car and a Bowser car. The Bowser a 2 bay CNJ open hopper was a kit, and the Walters, a ready to run, 10,000 gallon tank car the size of the Varney one's I posted here came in a very nice black finish, with Shell lettering. I wanted to replace the couplers with the old X2f for that is what I use. I couldn't. The assembling company glued the plastic parts together and the car would not come apart. About the only thing I could remove was the trucks. So if the present couplers either break or stop working I have to cut open the coupler boxes to replace couplers. O well another improvement by walters.

** My next cars are to be some Globe Tank cars.
* Globe and Athearn cars. They produced a line of cars all metal.  Back in 1950 a catalog which I have was made by "The Model R.R. Equipment Corp.". A wonderful catalog in which TT, HO, OO, S and O gauge trains of this time are cataloged with good information and some photos. Their cars line car be seen listed here with in this catalog. This catalog can be viewed in hoseeker site on line.
*  At the Allentown train show last Saturday I picked up 5 of these Athearn and Globe tank cars. Two three domes ones and three single dome ones. In 3 dome both Athearn are Deep-Rock DRX 2154 and Union Tank Line Co. UTLX 206. In single dome; Athearn Magnolia MPCX 544,Globe Shell SCCX 1158, and Sinclair SDRX 7143. Four of these are new to me and I didn't have before. Deep Rock, Union, Shell and Sinclair. I have a few other besides the one mentioned here. The only ones I have posted here are in Reply 4 a undecorated car, Atlas reply 12, Shippers Express 26, Phillips 66  reply 27, Timpkin 37, Mobilgas 57 and 58, Southern Pacific 92, and Mobilgas again 106. In the next few days I will post the new to me four cars here.
frank
PS  here is a photo in which the 2 Globe , 3 Athearn, 2 Varney, 1 Gilbert cars are seen. This is taken once I got the cars home, and before I worked on them.

Edit 6-4-2015;
Tom this is a matching car to your Globe, Shell SCCX 1150 you posted a photo in reply 108 and 112 here in this topic. It is the same car with a different road number. I hope you find and enjoy the photo of this twin to your Shell tank car.

***   The old Athearn all metal Union Tank Line Corporation, three dome, all metal tank car. UTLX 206. A third car from that before and after. All this needed was new couplers to allow it to run with my trains. In looking through my photos I found another photo of this car with a different number UTLX 267. The date of the photo is 07-24-2013. So somewhere in a box someplace may still be a second Athearn 3 dome Union Tank line car.

As to getting those cars back on tracks. The silver Sinclair by Varney 38000 only need a cleanup, trucks, and couplers. It is back on the tracks and a photo will be posted here once done.

** The Athearn 3 dome Deep Rock all metal tank car is being done now and need its new frame painted. It needed a frame replacement. Original frames are not aviable but I found a all cast metal frame in my parts box. The will keep the car all metal. I mounted couplers and coupler boxes, new trucks, I had a problem getting all the parts of car together, and mounted to the new frame .
* It is done now and ready to view.
A photo will be post here when made.

** The Gilbert 517 Mobilgas, and the Varney Koppers tank car are in running condition and need no work. One of the  Athearn all metal cars, Magnolia No MPCX 344, will be done at the same time with 2 other Magnolia cars, all with different road numbers. I am saving this post for a photo of the 3 Magnolia cars together.
* Here car MPCX 345 left and MPCX 349 right are seen. The third car MPCX 344, which is the one shown with the other 7 cars from the Allentown train show, isn't done yet. frame problems. 345, which I had already, still needs some handrail, and ladder work also.

* Another Athearn all metal tank car of the same type as some recently shown is the Crystal Car Line. Another 10,000 gallon car. I had 3 of these cars waiting to get some repairs and return them back to running on my tracks. Well all three are on the layout now. Here is CCLX 302. #'s. 305 and 306 are the other two.

** Because it is the only one I have of this road name I took it apart to clean and see what I can do with it. Here it is apart. You can see all the broken old parts and you my notice the missing parts.  I'll be hunting through old the old cars at train shows for replacement parts for this old Metal Athearn tank car.

This is a older photo of another Athearn 3 dome car taken back in 2013, UTLX 267. I guess I will be searching my boxes to find this old gem of a car. Maybe I'll get lucky and find it. Car UTLX 260 is in reply 250.

***   Concerning Athearn 3 dome all metal tank car UTLX 267. It wound seem that that photo, in the previous reply, is all I have to remember it by. I still have 3 boxes full of stuff. That is pieces, bodies, tenders, and odds and ends to find and look through. I have a feeling that I tried to make repairs to it and making it worse, striped it for parts. The old Athearn metal frame had castings, tank saddles, that were falling apart. This may back a year ago, caused me to attempt a repair. I have located some parts from a Athearn 3 dome tank car, but not the tank shell. I still hope to find it. No such luck. Searched 3 stuff boxes. Nothing.
