Here is a real odd old tank car kit with the tank made of plastic. It looks like it had 5 or 7 pieces to the tank. There is a wood flat car for it to mount to.
I don't know who made the kit. I would guess !950's or 60's.* The recording marks are BFIX 539.

Tank cars from this older time are very interesting due to the diversity in their manufacturing methods and material used. I'd like to do something a little different here. In speaking of the old Mantua line of tank cars, I'll tell you about the 3 already done and there location here in this topic. Going back to reply 21 in section 2, there I posted the first one. One of the nicest made, Quaker State Oil. After that in reply 56, section 3, I posted the Gulf oil tank car. A third in reply 111, section 6, is the Shell Oil tank car. These were not the only one made that I have. In black, mantua also did Sinclair, Valvoline, and think, think, think. Penn-Drake oil. I'll post these three in a row right here.

My favorite of the three is Valvoline. This is far from a familiar name brand.

** Here the second is Sinclair. I have 2 of these and don't know off hand where to find a photo of the first one I got. This one I recently have gotten.
It is a not in real good shape but does show the lettering alright. I'll replace it when I find the other better car photo.

Here is the third one, and the one with the most unheard of name brand.
" Penn Drake Oil." This is very different way of print a company logo. It uses no capitol letters, only small case lettering in name.

here it is hard to get someone to place one post in the forums. This is my 5th post today in this topic. Four with photos. I know people read these. I guess they just don't like them.

So I don't split up the Mantua tank cars here is the last one I have.
