The Old timers got put away. Diesels of the CNJ, Pennsy, Reading and B&O are seen now around the Frankford roundhouse.

The sight of two CNJ Trainmasters is wonderful for these eyes.  Was there evera more versatile locomotive in the 1950s?  Sorry, EMD, ya just don't make it in comparison!

It was the most powerfull locomotive of its time and it wasn't even supercharged. When B&O took over the CNJ it forced the retirement of all trainmasters. This is something the CNJ didn't want to do.

I knew the B&O had taken over, but I didn't realize they were the ones who forced the Trainmansters into retirement.

Didn't they end up sending the CNJ some FM switchers and F units because of power shortages?  Seems to me I remember seeing photos of these unitls in blue but lettered for CNJ.

Today a Reading GP30 had to come in for service. It was head end with a GP7 pulling the local beer train.
 frank

Concerning this loco. Bev-Bel released this. They did a series on GP30's using Bachmann bodies and Athearn drives. They fit together nicely but the bodies did not snap or lock together with the frame. The body just sat on the frame. You always had to remember that you could not lift them by holding the body only.

As always, good pictures. It's a motivating factor in getting the Penn York diesel barn built. Nice paint scheme on the ANNA units!
