I managed to sneak to the Atlanta train show a few weeks back on a very rare day off and managed to get some pretty good deals, the score seen here. I was fairly concerned that no HO layouts were represented for the first time at a show I've been to. Other recent projects: building the shelf these new acquisitions are perched on, now filled with cars unpacked from years in storage. Also managed to clean off the workbench which had been neglected for many months and managed to, for the first time in years, work on rolling stock and program decoders.

It's all slowly coming together!

While life has certainly taken a toll on free time, with a major move across the country, living out of a suitcase for 5 months and rebuilding a 1:1 scale MOW program that was neglected for years on several hundred miles of railroad, I'm now just getting to the point where I hope to start unpacking the dozens of boxes of HO scale equipment and structures from the move. The modules are here and seem to have survived the move with minimal damage, just a few rails bent on the ends. In the meantime, I've been pouring through my books on steel mills and steel mill railroads thinking of changes and enhancements to the mods to make for better functional switching and operational interest. I'm excited to get back into the hobby and can't wait to see what will happen.
