struggling uphill on a 4% grade and a 30 inch curve, with 24 cars on the drawbar is a 2-4-4-2 mallet.  its about as small as an articulated can be and as cute as a button.

And a Westside Climax A, at home working a logyard.  The log yard scene is on a styrofoam lift out access hatch.

This is a very old V&T 4-4-0 from PFM which i bought in 1969.  The gearbox failed about 10 years ago, so it acquired a NWSL gearbox, a can motor, and a whole lot of additional weight.  its good for 3 of 4 cars against the ruling grade.

Good looking Pacific. I have a similar engine and have also added an HO gauge Engineer and Fireman. Looks very realistic. Did you know that the boiler of the PRR pacifics was interchangeable with the boiler of the Mikado, the L-1s ?

I also posted this on the weathering thread but I don't think the pic turned out so good, so I thuoght I would post a better picture here. This is my Pennsy SD-9 that I just finished weathering. I am into all the northeast fallen flag railroads The Reading and Lehigh Valley being my favorite.

Moocow you have some awesome steamers. I like in particular the Mallet, the Climax, and a personal favorite the 4-4-0.

Did you kitbash those locos or do they look the same as when you purchased them?

Thank you, most of my locos are redetailed older brass (like from the 60s-80s.)  I consider them to be "runners" not display pieces (although i do have some displayers- Like a repainted Balboa centennial set.)  On the 4-4-0, I removed the generator and replaced the headlight with a box type.  The Climax has a different stack and headlight.  The malley, all i did was paint it, i haven't even added a crew yet.  Its really too modern for my era, but i just like it.

My fav is the 4-4-0, but because it is so light it will only haul 4 cars against my grades.

This pic is of a Model Engineering Works Virginia & Truckee #20 The Tahoe 2-6-0.  It is still lettered for my 1970s layout.
beyond is a NWSL vert boiler climax working on my logging branch line with a couple of scratchbuilt pulpwood cars.

First off, let me say this. You all have some amazing locomotives.

Now for a few of mine. I have a very small temporary layout set up on my dinning room table till my larger layout if fished/built.

First, here's is my biggest locomotive, and my favorite steam loco. Pere Marquette 1225 form Bachman. I had to replace the board the decoder plugs into, and have modified the tender trucks so all 6 wheels pick up on each. Shes a tad picky with my easy track. She doesn't like to run on it when its clean. No traction tires on the wheels means the track cleaner I use, Rail Zip, causes my Berk the slip a little pulling 10 cars. I might add a sound decoder to her this fall.

Next up is Soo 730.

This is a fairly old Athearn DC kit that my dad built for my old DC layout. I bought a Digatrax DH123 decoder for it, and got it wired up and it ran good for a few days. But the headlight slipped loose, shorted out, and I think it fried the decoder. The loco still runs, but the headlight stays on, and now it seams to loose power after a few minutes. Ill set it to a speed setting of 30 on my NCE Power cab, but after 2-3 laps, it slows to a crawl.
