This may sound a little strange. As most here know, I'm in 1 1/2 inch live steam. But very recently I was unpacking some of my old, and I do mean old, HO stuff. As I unwraped one locomotive after another, just to look at them, I unwraped from its bubble pac, a 4-4-2, that I had completely forgotten about. It is almost  identicle to my Erie Atlantic.  Vandy tender and all. I have'nt seen that engine for about twenty five years. Almost a little scarey. The bell placement, the headlight perch, the cab mount, so close to my live steamer. This is an old MDC kit that I purchased at a flea market in the early seventy as a basket case. It now rests on my mantle piece in an honored place.
Funny how one's mind holds on to an image. Even funnier how that image magnifies itself. In my case, first in HO, then, many years later, in 1 1/2 inch live steam.

          Take care,

           Bruce

My RDC's are second from right.  These are MTS Imports models with Cannon can motors.  Their numbers are 9163 (the ex-LV unit), and 9165 (the ex-B&M RDC-2 "Refreshment Car").

I try to stay within 1950-1975,but I have a few locos that are newer.I have 4 steam engines( 3 SP 1 PRR) 2 electrics, and over 60 diesels. Most of my stuff is SP,but I also have a lot of ATSF, and PRR locos. The rest are various other roads.

My other favorite railroad, the Philadelphia & Western.  Here, a 4-car Bullet train hustles past Perryville on my friend's Northeast Corridor layout.  Funny how this train seems so much at home on the NEC!!

i also like those RDC cars.  on the athearn RDCs were those orange and black stripes already on the model, or were they painted on by you later?

i was looking for a cheap way to copy some NJT RDCs i saw, and to get expirence painting locomotives , and  i am just curious.

Athearn's never came with tiger stripes.  In fact, I don't thing P2K's Reading RDC's had tiger stripes either.  But the MTS RDC's I have came to me with tiger stripes.  Here's a close-up of my MTS RDC No. 9163.  Note the yellow flasher up top.
