Nicely painted SD40-3 heading south with 100 empties for storage.  I bailed on a bit further down the line.  Mobil has seven of these old girls.

MobilGrain/Last Mountain Railway owns five of these gorgeous old switchers.  The oldest one was built in 1947 and the newest in 1957.  I hope to get a crack at running the old one, as that was the year I was born!  These engines came from the Modesto & Empire Traction Company in California.  Hopefully, they can serve Mobil for a good long time.

Definitely some bright color schemes... Great shots, never knew this shortline existed. Any info on its history?

MobilGrain provides power (as in owns) for Last Mountain Railway and BigSky Rail.  They are the shining example of what good Saskatchewan entrepreneurship is all about.  I hope to go to work part time, on an "as needed" basis doing some switching with those nice old 70 ton GE's.  I also will ride the road locomotives whenever I get the chance.

That's quite an idea. Grain transloading is quite common down here in GA, a transportable grain terminal is the next step I suppose.

Dropped our train, backed onto the two dead locos shown, pulled them out, backed onto the train, pulled it all ahead, backed it into the spot where the locos sat and left it there.  The two dead ones were between jobs, but weren't expected to be there!

Davidson, SK, at the far northern end of the Last Mountain Railway, where it turns into CN.  Looking back east.
