The GFRR, a rarely documented shortline in southwest GA, hosts an interesting collection of motive power, from incredibly filthy and patch painted late model GP's to Paducah rebuilds, and is the only railroad I know of in the south with widecab GP40's. Based in Albany, GA, they interchange with NS and have several jobs based here, including the MillerCoors Brewery job.

Here are two of their units on the servicing track in the Albany yard, a widecab GP40 and an ex-CSX maintenance of way unit with the old lettering bleeding through the patch.

The Miller Brewery job returns to the Albany yard with a long shoving move through town.

A light engine return to the GFRR yard yields a soon to be impossible shot with the demolition and rebuilding of the Broad St bridge.

If this is where I think it is, this was the ACL line to Waycross used by the City of Miami and the Seminole.  Partly abandoned I believe.  It was also a part of the story of the reality of the Chicago to Florida streamliners.  The CofM may have run off its first miles on the fine double track partly 100 mph ICRR main line but after you got south of Fulton KY, it was much slower.  In fact so far as I know this section never had signals.

"In 1928, ACL built a line from Perry, Florida to Drifton, near Monticello, Florida, the last link of the new "Perry Cut-off." This created a more direct route between Chicago and Florida's west coast, one which passed through Macon, Albany, and Thomasville, and the route followed by ACL's passenger train The Southland." -railga.com

It would appear you are correct. Albany has quite a large railroad presence for its isolation in southwest GA. I've only been here a year, I'm still trying to learn all of the history.

The grain train followed shortly after, briefly stopping in the GFRR yard before rolling on south.
