Work has begun on extending a track at the mine. When completed, 100 car trains will be able to be filled. Most that can filled now is 70 or so cars.

Formerly a Gulf and Ohio motor, now stenciled for the Georgia Central Railroad. Seen here in Albany, GA seemingly ready to depart to her new home.

More new power for the Georgia Central, an ex ATSF GP30. The GC, famous for its fleet of high hood U boats is now purging them in favor of first generation EMD power.

Nice catch with the former G&O unit. She would probably be a nice unit to model for the  weathering.

You just never know what you might find on a Short Line. I submit that I would not consider this "normal power" for a 19 mile short line. In the Commonwealth Railway marshalling yard in Suffolk, VA on 1/3/16 at 1425Hrs we find:
NS #4000, an AC44C6M (Class Unit) with NS #4001, also an AC44C6M out of view behind it on a double stack train.
CSX #3210, an ES44AH light power with CSX #491, a CW44AC out of view behind it.
CSX #5397, an ES40DC and CSX #453, a CW44AC on a single stack train. Should be a double stack, but this is a CSX train and they are still a little behind down here.

As many know, RailAmerica was bought out by G&W just over 3 years ago. Part of that acquisition was the San Joaquin Valley Railroad. Some of its motive power:
