There are some really good photos on here.  Do any of you folks ever shoot video of G&W power?  I'd be interested in seeing them.

Great shots, gents! Arlington, GA gets some new #4's on the HAL mainline and GSWR connection with a former VRE GP39-2 as worktrain power.

HAL road train tied down at Hilton, GA with some of the ex BN SD40-2's purchased in 2012 after the HAL's acquisition and before the CCH takeover when the powers that be decided some serious 6 axle power was needed.

3351 was formerly HLCX 8036 nee BN 8036.
I'm not sure of the 3348's history yet

Two former VRE passenger units bought up with several others back in 2012 when the southern region was in a power crunch with major property acquisitions taking place.

CHAT local tied down in the HAL Hilton, GA yard. The CHAT and CIRR interchange here with the HAL, which brings NS traffic from Albany, GA through to these lines and the Bay Line

I would guess it goes back as far as EMD.

Well... you got me there. While the Southern Region of G&W might not get as much fanfare as the B&P and R&S, I still think it's important to try to record as much historical data as possible on the history of these units. Many don't have the builders dates listed on the frame after painting, and some of the unique features disappear once shoved through the Panama City shop. GSWR 2880 had its high nose chopped, the AN units had their Pyle lights removed, engines get re-stenciled in other roadnames and get moved several states away...

Speaking of AN units... a former Appalachicola GP15T now assigned to the CCH is latched on to a pair of SD40-2's in the middle of a power move through the GSWR yard in Columbus, GA

"I still think it's important to try to record as much historical data as possible" I agree, and I hope you took my tongue in cheek answer in the spirit in which it was intended.

Important because a shot like this taken 3 years ago is no longer possible. All the power on the GSWR has been shopped / repainted or farmed out to other operations.

3802 became 2059
3801 became AN 2058

Just to round things out for #21, a photo looking over Conrail's Enola yard in mid-July, 1996.  Still says "radio-controlled" along the hood.
