Glad to see you got a thread started on Genesee & Wyoming Bob. You are in a good spot to get shots of alot of their equipment and they should be shared. Most rail companies don't go for such a colorful livery these days. Here's a link to their website which explains how they are alot bigger than most folks realize:

I created this because I couldn't find anywhere to upload my pics for the G&W. Since the Ohio Central was added to the family this month I guess it qualifies as G&W family. Although I did notice another forum for the OC. I guess this is one for the mods Tom.

Where I live They're called  Quebec Gatineau RY.  I live right by the tracks and watch their GP40's haul freight all the time. This afternoon there was a SIX engine consist crawling upgrade to Ste. Therese.

I will be fishing the codorus creek and some other streams in the area on monday i was wondering if i could get some info on york rail.

Does anyone know what kind of schedule york keeps at porters sideling. I will be fishing right near there and i wanted to check it out.

Also does anyone have info on a line going down the south branch of the codorus creek thru glen rock and seven valleys north to york. I will be fishing there as well. I looked at google maps and found the line but no info on it anywhere.

I dug a few of my slides out...  Genesee & Wyoming started with Alco RS1s and an Alco switcher, running from Retsof to Caledonia.  Chicago & Western Indiana #262 was a parts engine around the Retsof shops.

Conrail had trackage rights to Caledonia's P&L Junction to pick up salt trains over the B&O south out of Rochester.  Here's one returning northbound in 1977.
http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1444721
Conrail gave up trackage rights and allowed GNW/R&S trackage rights from West Ave to Rochester's Goodman Yard.  GNW MP15 making the run at West Ave by the old B&O Lincoln Park (former depot and roundhouse).

I grew up north of Rochester, not far from the B&O's belt line.  The Rochester & Southern extends as far north as Stonewood Ave to serve Matthews & Fields Lumber.  Ex-N&W GP9 #922 delivering a load of lumber in 2003.

A couple more: it's not impossible to chase a salt train out of Rochester, starting at Brooks Ave yard by the Monroe County airport.  You can park and wait at the Beahan Rd crossing in mid-afternoon, maybe watch runway action in the background.  B&P 3000 and R&S 101 lead 4 units southbound in August 2003:
http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1843472
The same train at Garbutt, between Scottsville and Mumford.
http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1843518
Crossing Rt.36 at Mumford; a former B&O depot is on the west side of the tracks, now a nursery business.  The Rt.36 bridge was removed in favor of an at-grade crossing.
http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1843477
A mile or so farther is Caledonia, home of former P&L Junction.  In 2-1976, I caught the B&O crossing the LV diamond heading north.  The depot was moved to nearby Genesee Country Village to house archives.
http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1796694
A couple units that used to work on the R&S early on were parked at the B&P terminal in Bradford PA in August 2003 - R&S 102 and ex-CR GP38 7803.
