I made her a short little "Mixed Train/Work Train" consists. Something the 'management' of the railroad might use to go about inpecting the line.

It's been a while since I last touched this little bugger...

However, I felt so sad for the pudgy 2-4-0 that I had such memories with, that I just had to clean her up and get her running again.

I'm really sorry to hear about that story... It really is heartbreaking to loose something so dear to such unfair, yet such natural causes...

Anyway, It's been a while, and I've got a new batch of pictures of my layout!

Re: Erie Lackawanna ...O-Gauge!!! - By Jim-Go on 12/28/06 at 11:51:47 - 'curve_ballast.jpg' 116 KB
Here's another view.  That "bare" shot of concrete and fillets, that section is at the top of the shot, and then the curve we see here.

Re: Erie Lackawanna ...O-Gauge!!! - By Jim-Go on 12/28/06 at 11:49:37 - 'ballast_close.jpg' 64 KB
Here's a close up of that very stretch of bed.  That gravel really lies close; once it's set it stays just like the real thing.   After I poured it on the tracks, I just got a paintbrush and "swept" it along.  At first I dropped just a bit of grit to see how it would spread with the painbrush.  Then I got a general idea of how much to put down.

[13]

Re: Erie Lackawanna ...O-Gauge!!! - By Jim-Go on 12/28/06 at 07:49:45 - 'watercan.jpg' 82 KB
Here's a shot of an E/L watercan I picked up last year.  I knew it would come in handy for some honorable task!  Really, I needed to put the chicken grit in something with a small spout and handle, otherwise it would be too unmanageable.  That bag is about the size of a small bag of a 7 lb bag of charcoal.  But that is actually 50lbs!  Tough to cut a hole in the bag, and to tilt it to pur the gravel right where you want it...

Re: Erie Lackawanna ...O-Gauge!!! - By Jim-Go on 12/24/06 at 14:25:15 - 'candytower.jpg' 94 KB
A better look at the tower with the candy freight passing by.  Is this a good example of merchandise freight?

If anyone wants an 18 second video that plays in your  Windows Media player, feel free to e-mail me.  It's a cool shot of the train passing by the tower, and it's "only' 8200k.

Merry Christmas!!!!

Close-up of ballast.  I just wonder if the birds in our neighborhood will invite their buddies to come along and fill their gizzards!   I guess I gotta keep the operations moving to scare them birds away!

  Friends,

Here are a number of snap shots that I've taken during the last week and a half or so. They show the progress being make at the Buckingham Central Lewis and Clark track extension. I've tried to put them in sequence wityh the great photos that Coffee last posted in the Buckingham Central RR thead  of the end of track.
I sure hope I don't bore everybody to tears with these pics.

And then somehow they're going to twist and turn the track through the trees and back over the creek. Visionaries or just nuts? I suspect with their determination, it'll all come together.

How To Make a Roadbed 101

OK class, listen up!

Bruce gave me a tour of this area where the new line will go through.

Will begin at the end of the proposed line. Here's where the bridge will be. Somewhere through this heavy undergrowth a bridge will cross the creek for a second time. I was skeptical at first until we got to the other side of that jungle.

  Friends,

This is just a teaser of whats to follow. This is a scratch built  through Howe truss bridge, built by Peter Bialecki on his Buckingham Central RR. Its all welded steel. The track is just half way across the bridge, and the ROW on the other side has'nt been touched as of yet.
I took this photo on Saturday morning of the second week end of January 06.
Stay tuned.

   Take care,

   Bruce

Here's more pics of the 2-8-0 with the fall colors and the headlight up top. I also gave the whistle a knock leaning toward the front. I think it looks cool...
