Did GE produce Demonstrators for the big 6 axle U series locomotives? A few quick Google searches have turned up nothing.

Unless someone has a better answer, I would say L&N's #1499, a U30C delivered in a special "XR Series" paint scheme would be as close as you can get. It was not built until 8/72, well after the model came out in 1967 and was a way of touting optional upgrades that would address known problems in standard units as if this were something to brag about. This according to North American Locomotive Production 1968-1989 by Bradley, The Second Diesel Spotter's Guide, by Pinkepank and my own views.
