It is good to see those old work horses still out there.

It has been a good news-bad news scenario.

Increased traffic volumes have played havoc with power availability. Trains departure times delayed for hours waiting for inbounds to arrive to turn the power. Using four axle units on road trains has been more frequent this past year because of the power crunch.

This has created yet another problem for CSX because it has been short on four axle power for yard and local service. A major reason for the focus on the GP38-3/GP40-3 rebuild program now in progress.

Sort of unusual these days to see a unit without a safety cab leading a train on the road.
