Hi all!
Well, this story and maybe someone knows: this year reached the port of Zarate, in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, four SD40-2s locomotives formerly in NREX, which were adquiridad by Materfer, a kind of local subsidiary NREC.
The fools who arrived are: NREX 8105, while maintaining the BNSF paintshame, but without the logo, and the number units 7924, 7929 and 7940, which still retain the paintshame of BN.
It is said that these fools will be rebuilt as Gensets for local railways here in Argentina.
In Argentina are almost a novelty these locomotives. The closest to these are four GP40M-3 (GP40 alivianadas to 120 tn aprox, A1A wheel arrangement and Q-Tron electric system, but keeping the same engine and 3000 HP) who arrived in the late 90s bought by a mining company named Minera Alumbrera . Of these four engines, three were original DRGW (MA 9302 serial number 32881-MA 9303 serial number32885 - MA 9304 serial number 31001) and the fourth original Illinois Central  (MA 9301 serial number 36166).
It is obvious that these madmen passed through several hands before reaching Argetina, such as OmniTrax, Morrison Knudsen and Helm Financial.
Oh, and here in Argentina reconstruction was performed by the branch of Morrison Knudsen, in the  workshops Liniers of railroad D F Sarmiento , in the Capital Federal.
I hope this contribution will like it and that someone can serve this locomotive destination information tailored to domestic services in Argentina.
