I pretty much missed the golden age of the GP30, with its distinctive silhouette and workhorse reputation.
 
I still enjoy photographing the few survivors I can find.

It's my favorite of the four axle EMDs.

The 501 pics are mine and i hope you like um all the 501 was built in 1965 by EMD and was used on the pennsylvaina Railroad and went to the WMSR in 1995 but after the PRR it was used on Conrail...............The pic above and all of the 501 pics were taken on the 2nd of oct 2005 the 501 was shut down case of hot metal pices down in the fans and the prime move was smoking. THe crew got it started up but it is know out of service for the 2005 season beacuse of a caboose hit a swithch derailed and wrecked about 5 feet in the engineer's sine of the cab.
