I am not very good with loco identification. Is it a GP60?

What was it the engines said? Well, UP 119 called the Central Pacific Jupiter a western snob and Jupiter made fun of 119's midwester accent.

Either a GP-60 or a GP-59, but I think jonathansd45 is right.

After doing some research I found that the 2122 is a BL20-2 rebuilt from ex BN GP9s. No wonder EMD_TRAIN_FAN had this question!

I have to admit to baiting you guys with this one.  It is indeed a BL20-2.  EMD only made three of them (as demonstrators).  They never received an order for them as a production model, and the 3 demos now belong to their Joint Venture leasing firm, Locomotive Leasing Partners.  These are basically a GP38-2 with a "pinned turbo" (it always runs), but with a 16-cylinder 645C2R engine.  The 3 are painted as in the picture, and are running "way up north" on the MacKenzie Northern Railroad.  I had this pic, as I was responsible for getting them ready for running in constant extreme cold conditions.        They are so well liked that it is a shame more of them weren't made.

As who I am, everyone knows what my favorite is. My names a dead givaway! As for diesels, I like the old Baldwins! As my "All Tyme" is Baldwin made... I love the old Sharks RF-16's, for a cab unit, an for a  hood unit, the AS-16! In B&O of course!

The new diesels?? Umm Yeah, I'm going to be the oddball an just give a picture of it!   Second runner up to this one? Um Yeah a C-60AC, in CSX of course!

Okay. Now that everybody has told which locos are their favorites, which locos do you consider useless, odd, or you just plain hate.

I probably dislike almost all Alco diesels with the exception of the FAs and PAs.

I hate from EMD;  E units,SD45`s,SDP45`s,SDF45`s SD50`s, SD60`s, SD70`s,SD80`s, and SD90`s. From Alco; any six axle Century diesel. I love diesels but hate really large engines.  Give me four axle diesels anyday!  Oh and I hate RDC`s. Can`t stand them.

geepnine,

I bet you hate railfaning with all those locos you hate. I too very much enjoy four axel diesels, but it hard not to love the magnificent power of eight SD60s, 70s, 80s, and/or 90s rumbling by with an endless string of double stack cars. Six axel diesels are now primary on all class 1 railroads.

I pretty much like all first generation diesels, with the PA, FA, E, and F units and Baldwin Sharks and FM C liners as favorites. I don't really have a second or third generation favorite though I like the U25B and most Alcos. As for a dislike, I find the GP40 sort of "boring", though I will photograph them.  I don't care much for the new generation of passenger units, either, as for style.

So far GE C40-8 has become my favorite loco mainly because
I have remotor it.  Put in more weight body mounted couplers. It does a good job pulling some of my heavest trains.

Are we talking model trains here? . .  or the real thing?
