I like  your term "pilgrimage" because that is what it would be. It would be like going to vist an old friend.   Hopefully I can get up to that part of New York state sometime and check it out.

Here is the only photo I have of it on the D&H. It is moving away from me as I attempt some kind of a photo. The RS3u's were being used as helpers on the grade north out of Carbondale at  the time (1977). They would leave engines on a siding near Mayfield for nb's to pickup.

I have to stop saying that 'here is the only photo I have" since I keep finding more as I go through my slides!

Here is 1976 at Kenwood 10/88

Based on the date, that was taken right before she was sold to the Tioga Central.

Thought the same thing. Maybe shipped directly from here. I noted that it is in the "dead line". Glad it was saved.

Looks like Upper Hudson River RR 5019 - nee Delaware & Hudson RS36 5019 has been sitting on a siding unused, since the new operators took over this summer. - Hope it finds a good home.

I did see #506 during the winter. She appears to be in storage with the passenger equipment, as Tioga Central excursions don't operate at this time of year.

The former D&H (nee EL) C424ms on the Bath & Hammondsport RR are alive and well. I caught a pair of them in action 2 weeks ago, and can be seen in the B&H/LA&L subforum:

Sad news- it looks like the lightning stripes will vanish on CP. According several reports on FB, both ex-D&H #7312 and #7304 have been repainted in standard CP red with white lettering. GP38-2 #7303 will probably follow them sometime this year, so get those pics while you can.

First- #7304 has not been repainted (yet). Both she and 7303 still work on the former D&H for CP.

Second- #506 has been sold to the LA&L. When I saw her a month ago, the RS3u was still on the Tioga Central RR, but she had LAL reporting marks.

Number 506 ultimately went to the WNYP (which is partially owned by the LA&L). I recently saw Facebook photos of the RS3u getting some TLC in the shop at Olean. She is in good hands.

Former D&H RS3u #506 is in the process of being repainted by the WNYP. Incidently, WNYP President Carl Belke is ex-D&H.

WNYP #406 is now in revenue freight service, going strong 40 years after her rebuild.

Former D&H #7303, still in lightning stripes, has been assigned to the Saratoga Springs area by CP.

Do you want ride behind a D&H Alco? Buffalo Southern #5010 (the only surviving D&H RS11) is being used in excursion by the Buffalo,Cattaraugus & jamestown for some excursions.

Updates!

D&H GP38-2s #7303 and #7304 are both in NY state right now. They seem to be operating between Schenectady and Glens Falls. CP is keeping them in lightning stripes for now.

Former D&H Rs3u #506 has been repainted by WNYP. She was also renumbered to 406 and is operating in Olean, NY.
