I remember those cars also, one of my favorites. The Yellow (gold) boxcars were also eye catching. I can't find any pics, but they run on my layout!

Here is a spreader & flanger in Carbondale Pa yd in the 70's. The Spreader had a stripe on the blade. The D&H was classy!

How about Lightning stripe diesels, the gold boxcars, the blue dip hoppers, the I luv NY box cars, followed up by a red Wooden caboose. That would be a good looking train.

Let's see- I've got a Lionel C420, a Lionel RS-3 and a red Lionel caboose. All of them are lettered for the D&H, so all I need is the rolling stock!

You are almost there. If you decide to add the others, I'd like to see the finished product!

Found a partial view of the gold (or Yellow) boxcar behind a boring (for 1976) U25B in black. I used to see these cars all of the time on a book company siding on the NYS&W in Saddle Brook NJ. I can't figure out why I never took a picture of one. (or maybe I did but who knows what I did with it!)

I just like how they were willing to put their name out there.

Thanks for jogging my memory- it's been about 22-23 years since I last saw the "I <3 NY" boxcars!

Another photo from 1983, westbound approaching Hornell, #50096 and #27313.
