Nice guys. Down my way we were dealing with the effects of TS Andrea. Between rain bands I caught CSX #9018, a C40-9W on the local, H773-07, dropping off a few rock cars at Lee Hall, VA. 1230Hrs on 6/7/13. Just west of this location in Williamsburg, VA the weather service is reporting over 9" of rain had fallen in less than 24Hrs.

I agree, the 6000s with the yellow CSX really were good looking. Catch em while you can even the 6000s have been getting pushed through the paint shop.

I also liked the scheme of the 6000's, not to mention the distinctive whine from the traction motors and engine as they passed........they had "that sound" of its own, IMHO.

Agreed. I still see the 6000s at Chili Jct on occasion, and will miss them when they're gone. The old CSX color scheme was much better than the current "dark future" scheme.

Me too, and I also like the old color scheme better. Years ago, I used to take my son and my step-daughter and step-son fishing at the park on Hogback Hill Rd in Palmyra (tucked in between Rte 21 and East Palmyra) when CSX ran the 6000's a lot around here. The tracks were right near the creek and you could hear the trains coming. It got so I could often-times tell the difference when those were on the head-end as opposed to the AC4400's. I do like the way those 6000's sound.

Haven't posted much in the past several years but couldn't resist grabbing this CSX lash tied down for the July 4th holiday at Greenwich Yard in South Philly.

Owing to a derailment, CSX recently had a few detours on the NS Southern Tier Mainline. This is express freight L090, a joint CSX/UP operations hauling produce from the West Coast to the Port of Albany in upstate NY.

Forgot about seeing this down in Huntington back in February of this year. Setting in the deadline by the shops next to the mainline to either be repainted or be fodder for the Dash 3 program.

This unit wasn't the hardest one to spot from the road since it wasn't in Yn2 or Yn3.

how about a 3 way meet? CSX and Amtrak did just that 3 week ago. The "players" were (in order if appearance): a westbound CSX mainfest freight, an eastbound empty gondola train and Amtrak's eastbound Lake Shore Limited. It was a good morning at Tifft Street  bridge:
