To round out the afternoon, the eastbound CSX intermodal freight approached Attridge Road shortly before 2 PM.

I think Amtrak's Maple Leaf was coming from the city, since the eastbound freight diverged onto the West Shore Bypass at Chili Junction.

The eastbound CSX intermodal freight was a mix of stacks and TOFC.

The tail end of the eastbound intermodal freight heads down CSX's West Shore Bypass. This was my final train sighting for the day.

Haven't been trackside in about a year. Have been pursuing other things, family, work, writing, urban photography.  Chance led me today to a CSX intermodal (possibly Q172 or Q174) at Locust interlocking in Philly.

Went down to Saint Albans, West Virginia on Saturday to get some of the post-Thanksgiving Day madness. Started off the day with the E592-25 heading east to wye for the Coal River Subdivision. Before this train had came east, I got somewhat rewarded with a police pursuit going by with the lead unit being a car from the WV State Police.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubZYSNcsMeA

Second train to show up on Saturday was the H872-26 John E. Amos mineshifter to Danville, West Virginia. Believe it or not, this was the last train that I saw go on or come off the Coal River Subdivision. Usually, you'd see one or two in a row either coming off or going onto the "Slow River."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=far0Qc3XGHc

This train was the one that made everything start to go azy on the railroad. Train G879-23 led by the CSXT 399 heads west through Saint Albans running at trackspeed on an APPROACH signal. At around 1:20 to 1:30 into the video, you'll hear the engineer lay down the slack as he sees the rear end of a coal train that was heading into the power plant in front of him.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-VOr4UQpdI

ES44AH #777 brings the E516-25 west through town at track speed as it heads for the yards at Russell, Kentucky.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lKqpAxLBAY

CSXT 7739 leads the T337-22 west through Saint Albans as it returns to the Kentucky coalfields for more black gold. Judging by the rust and primer showing through above the engineer's window. I would say that this locomotive needs to make a trip to Huntington for a fresh coat of paint.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80-Yt6TnfhQ

The last train that I caught at Saint Albans during this fast-paced day was another G879 heading westbound. Only this time it was the G879-25 heading west behind ES44AH #760 and CW44-9 #9034 as they highball through Saint Albans towards Russell, Kentucky.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZa2WibxZEA

Late this afternoon, I decided to stick close to the house and ventured out to get a couple during a break in the wet weather. CSX did not disappoint with what they ran one right behind the other. First train up to bat is the Q303-28 with SD50 #8552 flying solo today as it brings the thirty six car manifest through Marmet, West Virginia as it heads for its work stop at South Charleston, West Virginia.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sj2Yh2GIMl0

The last train for today was the Q135-28 running west while being led by AC44CW #440. After the rear of the train had passed by me. I was listening for the defect detector at CA450.0 in Charleston to give off the axle count. I was not the least bit surprised when the detector gave off a count of 352 axles on today's westbound.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2wYJjdfytw

I didn't really come away with that many photos but it was a busy day for video.
Enjoy the videos!!!

I went back down to Saint Albans on Saturday to meet up with another railfan. Needless to say that we didn't leave empty handed when we called it a day.

U700-01 behind the CSXT 486.

Gee triple eight oh one heading east behind the CSXT 4724.

Q135-02 heads west through Saint Albans behind CSXT 440 and another AC44CW.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NkkRifL7lI

Did manage to get out on Sunday for about two hours and catch a couple of trains coming through.

Here we have eastbound grain train G852-01 meeting westbound grain empty G905-03. The G852 was led by the CSXT 8580 and the CEFX 3144 while G905 was led by CSXT 667 and an AC4400. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZ9CppC3rtA

I've still yet to upload the last two videos from Saturday and the first three from Sunday. They should be uploaded by the end of the week.

On an afternoon stop in Cordele, GA, a four train meet stacked up at the CSX/NS/HOG diamond. First through was eastbound CSX 7393 with a very long mixed freight filled with unpatched Chessie hoppers and old Seaboard System cars.

Nice catch with the older EMDS!

I found this CSX unit in a rather unusual location during the fall- in a yard on NS's Southern Tier Mainline.

Photo taken by me Friday 10/28/2011 in Gang Mills, NY. Just a guess- maybe the CSX loco was paying off horsepower hours?

Thanks! One of the nice things about my job is I cross 8 mainlines on my way home from work and when I get done early I usually chase this job along the way. I can't say I have ever seen a CSX unit running on the NS Southern Tier line, I suppose someone in Gang Mills just wanted to see some color!

8 mainlines? That's a great location for a job!

I've only seen CSX units twice on NS's Southern Tier Mainline since the CR split and both sightings were this year, strangely enough. It's more common for me to see NS units on CSX.
